Couldn't beat the hotel for Value for Money - £160 per night in a 'luxury suite room' over the Christmas break.
They have two - the other is just outside Glasgow - and there you can eat in 5 star luxury in an absolutely stunning state of the art hotel that offers double rooms at mad low prices (sub £69 for a double room in what feels like a 5-star hotel).
I know things like the noise across the road are outside the control of the hotel, but equally when you are paying not insignificant amounts of money, you expect things to be "just so".
A terrific looking hotel, classy and cool for the same price as some cookie cutter international chain hotel.
The location was good and took us half an hour to walk to Princes Street where all the main shops are and tourist information office is located.
In a nice location in yuppified Leith (which was where Irvine Welsh originally found inspiration for Trainspotting - before it was regenerated) the hotel is situated in an impressive stone building overlooking the docks.
Superb location in Leith, good restaurants nearby and know the hotel well so was the ideal place to stay for catching up.
The hotel will arrange taxis for you and they arrive within minutes - one taxi driver told us the Malmaison gets priority.
Would recommend as enjoyed our stay- nice and central to bus stops to central edinburgh, Bus 35 runs from around the corner to and from the airport.
My room was lovely, a massive bed, a pristine bathroom and a view over the water.
We upgraded to a suite with an oaked four poster bed room 120.
The room was quite spacious, with a queen bed and good sized bathroom.
The room was fantastic - huge, very comfortable bed, large sofa and two tv's with DVD players.
Room was spacious with a big double bed, hi fi, tv (with sky sports) and free broadband internet access.
Food in restaurant is excellent and if you don't fancy a full breakfact you can get coffee and toast in the bar - which was just perfect after a large meal and too much wine the evening before.
Rooms are great, the bar is well furbished and food in restaurant is excellent.

The bar on the ground floor had good service and the restaurant was lovely.
Reception staff were excellent, the receptionist was very helpful and continental breakfast delivered to room was very nicely presented and delicious.
The reception staff were very helpful advising bus routes to the city centre anr reccommending a restaurant for the evening - was alos very good, we had a very pleasant stay and service from everyone was understated efficient.
Listened the amazing Stephanie talked prices, friendly reception staff and the manager did give us a discount was good.
On-site car parking, good choice of bus services into town and we had a great stay as we expected.
The Hilton at the airport wanted £229 for 1 night and 21 days car parking so I thought better of it and plummed for the Holiday Inn Express on the shore until my partner asked me to do a price search on the MalMaison.
I managed to park right in front of the door, although I was later informed the hotel has its own car parking 'round the back.
Like the fact that the wi-fi facility is totally free and very easy to use.
Furthermore staff very helpful, clean rooms and leith has lots of nice bars.
Rooms were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was wonderful.
