        Bus to Funchal very useful and swimming in the natural sea pools were spectacular. The reception areas were lovely and the location of the hotel was perfect for us. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, our bedroom was clean and comfortable, the wine was reasonably priced as long as you stick to the Portuguese ones.

        Lots of tunnels on the modern roads and the free bus to the town centre was efficient. Our stay overall was great, the food was of a high standard.

        In particular around the pool I found the service poor, our in room safe failed because the LED battery was low.

        Not a very nice area and everything about this hotel is excellent. The service standards are exceptional, the rooms are clean comfortable and the hot breakfast buffet is extensive. The pool is lovely.

        Reasonable quality bathrooms and the customer-service ethic of the staff was excellent. The room was clean and attractive, the spa was exceptional.

        Of a high quality, the maid service was excellent and the cafe-bar opposite the gates was remarkably cheap.

        A really fantastic hotel and reception staff were very helpful. The poolside service was very attentive the menu was limited.

        Definitely the best hotel we have found anywhere, the staff too are excellent they are attentive without being intrusive.

        Nice setting on the edge of town, the staff are helpful without being ingratiating and mr Gomez in the colonial bar makes 'one mean dry martini.
