  Quiet and peaceful location, tea was great especially the port and cheese board, a lovely place to stay and fell looked after. The choice of menu was good and the pennine breakfast of the house was substantial, staff were friendly, owners were welcoming and could not do enough and very knowledgeable. The bed was very comfortable and the food was fantastic. The waitress at dinner on our 2nd night was very charming and attentive.

  The location is beautiful and the hotel is small and intimate located in an idyllic setting. The owners are lucky to have such good staff, e dining room, toilets, drawing rooms and bar are very pleasant, the breakfast is amazing and a very civillised way to start the day.

  The location is wonderful and the hotel is in a beautiful setting. The staff are very polite and extremley helpful and can't do enough for you, the food here is AMAZING.

  Beautiful surroundings, brilliant walking without the massive crowds of the Lake District and lovely county house hotel for a two day stop over between Christmas. All in all not worth the money we paid, friendly competent staff and peaceful and very personale hosts. The bathroom was clean, breakfast was excellent and the wine menu was just amazing.

  Very comfortable surrounding and the location suited our needs, nice setting. A lovely country house, staff very friendly and wonderful hosts. Our room was fantastic, breakfast was superb and the menus gave excellent choice including a vegetarian option.

  The location is great is you like the remoteness for outdoor types there is plenty to do, the rooms are very nice and the hotel is very relaxing, the breakfast was good, and the staff are very pleasant.

  Romantic location, a great stay and the staff were courteous and helpful. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, clean and had everything we needed, the Sunday gourmet dinner was excellent as were the breakfasts, the fruit salad was fresh and lovely and the yoghurt thick and creamy.

  The lounge areas are reassuringly warm and cosy even in the midst of a pennine monsoon, the setting is very peaceful, the food is absolutely delicious and the presentation was stunning.
