It has a great location just outside Benaulim (10 mins walk) on the road to the beach in a quiet relaxing part of Goa.

Getting around can also be a problem - taxis charge $20 each way to North Goa and whatever they can get late at night.

This was the first time I stayed at Lotus Suites - found them on Booked.net at $52 per night for a suite (bedroom, bathroom,kitchen and dining room).

The apartment has an outer sitting room with a well-equipped kitchenette and an inner double-bed room both of which are air-conditioned and have separate cooling controls.

The outer sitting room has a double sofa-cum-bed which sleeps two additional persons.

The room is adequate - you're a family, toilet are very neat and clean, the food is great.

The "restaurant" is a disaster in terms of service - it could take over an hour for a simple breakfast to arrive (and they can't have been busy as we were the only ones there whenever we ate there).

The pool area is really disappointing lacking any real shade, and no bar or food.

The quality of food served at the hotel is poor - there are a couple of very good restaurants right on the beach about 5 minutes away.

We only ever had breakfast there and it was well cooked, freshly prepared, tasty food.

We ate lunch everyday at Dominic's beach shack which does nice food.

The staff behind the reception desk could also try smiling sometimes but the waiters and housekeeping staff are ever so nice.

The actual complex looks a little tired in places - especially the pool area and if they just revamed this there would be little to complain about.

For £18 a night we got a spacious one bedroom appartment in this clean, well run resort located five minutes from unspoilt Benaulim Beach.
