Trust me, the only thing 5 star about this hotel that is the price.
Le Parker has a motel quality with luxury hotel prices.
We could not fault anything about this hotel (with the exception of the cost for a long distance call).
They really didn't care that I couldn't afford to pay someone else's hotel bill on top of mine, so I don't care to stay there again!
Convenient location a short drive from downtown.
The avante garde music perfectly suited the ambiance of the location.
After we called our own taxi (lot's of brightly colored coats - 3 requests - no taxi), loaded our luggage and were in the cab with Miki (what a hoot!
Parker Meridien is located in a pretty convenient spot, just inside the Palm Springs city limits, close to the airport, Rancho Mirage/Palm Desert and funky downtown Palm Springs.
Whilst the bathroom containing the toilet and the bath may be a little small, who cares when the room and surrounding environment are so pleasant (how much time do you spend sat on the can or in the shower anyway?
Obviously a king bed was unacceptable so after a bit of explaining the hotel staff upgraded our room to a one bedroom villa with a pullout couch.
The staff at the front desk informed us that they only had a room with a king bed available.
This feeling comes from the smaller details like the fuzzy rugs in each room, the freshly brewed coffee that arrives a few minutes after your wake-up call (which also guarantees you have to get out of bed!
My room had a 4 poster bed, with high thread count sheets, duvet and feather pillows.
The staff is nothing less than fabulous (with special mention of John Federbusch, the Head Concierge), the grounds are spectacular, and the cuisine is top notch from breakfast at Norma's to late night dinner at Mr.
The beds were comfortable pillowtops and breakfast at the restaurant was unbelievably good.

The two upper managers I complained to about rude staff, poor service etc.

Excellent staff-- very friendly and helpful, room service was fast.
The staff is easy going, the food bountiful and delicious (yet pricey) and even though the service is sometimes slow, most of the time it is good.
The spa is wonderful with a steam room, sauna, salt water pool and jacuzzi and a well equiped and spacious gym.
Moreover the smaller pool has a jacuzzi as well and the wonderful soaps.
We paid just under $400 for 1 weekend night, but the total bill with pool-side drinks and two meals (no spa treatments) was about $750.
The spa services were excellent and the room was clean and comfortable.
The staff dresses in bright cartoonish pink jackets, the rooms are spacious and spotless.
The service was the worst i have ever experienced and the room was clean and comfortable.
