Le Lagon Resort Vanuatu Port Vila

A great location, about the highlights of our trip: Free ferry to Erakor Island and lots of lovely restaurants in town.

A great location and shops in Port Vila spoke very good English.

It certainly lacks the 'romance' of many of the other resort I have stayed in and would be very far down my list for my choice of a wedding or honeymoon location.

We used both the taxis and buses while there and ended up using a taxi driver to take us to the Mele Cascade Falls, it cost us 6000vatu for him for 1/2 a day plus 3000vatu entry to the falls.

Buy your duty free in port vila too and collect at airport when leaving, much cheaper than at Bauerfield and Sydney airports.

It had a queen size bed and a single bed in the main room and also had a small seperate room next to the bathroom/ shower with another single bed,I would recomend requesting room 606 if you are interested in this room type.

Our room was great (Garden view deluxe), had a little side room which the kids slept in, a big bathroom and comfy queen bed.

Our family got a ground floor room which hadn’t been renovated but was OK, a little larger than the other rooms with two double beds and an old spa bath.

Our room was made up every day with a different flower decoration on the bed, the Easter eggs were a pleasant surprise.

Bathroom did not live up to expectations of a hotel of this supposed quality (dark dingy, toilet rocked when you sat on it, plantation shutter style door to the bedroom so no privacy for sound, etc).

Food can't be faulted, the grounds are immaculate and our only regret was that the huge new cascading pool, swim-up bar and renovated 2nd restaurant weren't completed yet.

The breakfasts were very good, but food in the evening and at the pool bar during the day was woeful.

The food from the poolside grill was nice for lunch, and the buffet breakfast and themed dinners were pretty good - certainly not worth the price though if you had to pay to eat there every night.

Everyone from housekeeping through to restaurant and bar staff are just so friendly, warm and welcoming that you never want to leave.

Breakfast was in the terrace restaurant and had a huge variety!

What was supposed to be a 24 hour service took staff 4 days to sort out - cost extra to have it delivered and ended up involving the manager of the fumigation company to deliver it.

I approached the reception staff and finally spoke to some manager who told us that because we did not buy the all inclusive package, our kids are not to get what other kids get.

The service was great, staff were extremely friendly, especially to the kids and it was a totally relaxing holiday.

We never had to wait for meals or drink service and all the staff were very attentive (a special mention to Frida who worked on the poolside bar who was amazing).

Yes they are still working on the older pool and two spa's.

There is a severe shortage of pool towels at the resort and also towels in your room and on quite a few days we had to ring housekeeping for them to be told they were in the drier and we would have to wait for them.

The streets are relatively clean, the staff are fantastic - kind and probably the best rooms we have stayed in.
