Editorial review:

Enjoy this very modern small hotel in an 18th century building. When it’s not cold out they serve breakfast and cocktails in the beautiful courtyard. The lobby retains the building’s 18th century charm and is furnished with period antiques. The 38 sleeping rooms have a gray, black, and burgundy décor and a totally modern look. The lobby bar also features a working fireplace that is a real delight in the cold of winter.

Many of us are dreaming to spend at least one night in a real royal castle. Now those who travel to Paris have that chance thanks to Le Clos Medicis hotel. A residence built for Medici family in 1773 was rebuilt and now became a superb venue. The property is situated in Latin Quarter close to the beautiful Luxembourg Garden. The Latin Quarter is famous for its boutiques and shops, where you can buy everything from food to the real masterpieces of art.

You can only imagine the beautiful style of Le Clos Medicis created by decorator Jean-Philippe Nuel. Looking antique outside the hotel depicts antique epoch inside. Along with stylised furniture the lobby of Medici Hotel looks really cosy, featuring real fireplace and a small bar.

The property offers 38 spacious rooms with all facilities included: air conditioning, mini bar, telephones with private line, 25 channels TV, Wi-Fi internet access, hair dryer and individual safe. Feel free to use all of the services provided for you in the Medici mansion. All rooms have a bathroom with a bath & a shower or simply a shower stall.

For those who like to have coffee and croissants outside, beautiful courtyard garden is available 24/7. You are invited to spend here some romantic time before going to bed.

Anyway, Le Clos Medicis hotel is more than just a hotel, it is tradition, culture and beauty of France, started by Medici family and represented in vivid colours here.

The location is great. A few steps from the Jardin de Luxembourg and the Panthéon. The rer station is very close and therefore makes it very convenient when transporting your luggages to the airport! In general, a fair price considering the location and the overall market in Paris. Nicely decorated courtyard to have breakfast.

The bed was not confortable. The twin bed is actually two singles put together. Also, I would have appreciated to be provided with an iron. However, I was told that you have to go downstairs with your clothes, in a sort of closet, to use an iron and irontable. By the way, there is a computer in that same "closet" and if somebody is using it, well, you better come back later because it is way to small to accomodate two persons! Good and nice hotel but definetly not a good choice as a business traveler.

The entrance and bar area was very attractive. Also the front of the hotel looked good and it was situated in a quiet street.

The delux twin room was tiny and had the smallest bathroom. I questioned this and they said hotel rooms in Paris are all small - really! The lift was not working and no one offered to carry our suitcases up the uncarpeted windy staircase to our room.I paid the bill for our 3 night stay on the monday as I had to return to London but when my daughter checked out the on the tuesday they tried to charge her for an extra night - she was very upset! It was also exspensive. I will not go back there to stay.

This was our second stay at Le Clos Medicis. The beds are marvelous as is the location. Quite convenient walking distance from the metro, Le Jardin de Luxembourg, restaurants, Le Sorbonne, etc., and the staff are extremely accomodating.

Reception staff were very friendly and very helpful. WiFi was free and reliable. Room windows opened to the courtyard (where you can have a nice little breakfast), which led to impromptu conversations with your neighbors, creating a fun, communal feel. Rooms were clean and chic and exactly the right size for a city visit (when you know you're going to spend all your time exploring, not in the room). Location was ideal - steps away from Luxenbourg Gardens, and the Pantheon is just around the corner. St. Germain only a five minute walk away.

One of the elevators was out of order during our stay and my friend had to climb four flights of tightly winding stairs to his room, which was inconvenient, especially when he had to carry his luggage down for checkout. Cost of the room seemed a bit high, but we were there during the peak season.

The location in St. Germain was terrific, although the street was less charming than the surrounding streets, once inside it mattered little. Our rooms were very clean, beds and linens supremely comfortable, bathroom new and maintained spotlessly daily, very quiet rooms. The lobby and walls could use a touch up here and there, new paint, wallpaper, but those things don't really affect your visit, just the American sensibility that all things need to be brand spanking new to denote a quality experience. Our family of four enjoyed the adjoining suite on the 6th floor, very private and two bathrooms.

The room carpet is dirty. It looks like it has been here for ages. Smell is pretty bad. I feel like I was sleeping in the smoking room. There are four hotel receptionists I met. Two frenchmen are excellent. The Chinese one is okay. The French girl is the worse one. I do not think she could smile. She looks arrogant and thinks guests should be smiling to her. She should be fired right away.

The breakfast is honestly very good in terms of the choices offered; the fruits, "compote de pommes", fromage blanc, yaourt are excellent, however both the bread and the viennoiseries are just terrible; next door, a boulangerie offers a much better bread, fresh unlike the one being served at the hotel; I stayed 3 nights, it cannot be just a one off mistake...So bottom line, I paid the breakfast around 15 Euros or more and was buying my bread and croissant next door...

The staff was extremely nice and professional. The hotel is very convenienly located. Easy access to RER which takes you straight to CDG Airport in about 45 minutes.

The room was a bit of a disappointment, much smaller than it appeared on the picture. It is fine if you are visiting Paris for sightseeing, but it did not exactly fit our purposes, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was nice and clean though.

The close proximity to bus routes, metro etc. and the Luxemburg Gardens. A very good area for shopping, nearby.

High cost of breakfast, to which we did not take.

Efficiency and friendliness of staff. Location is very good; if you don't mind walking a lot a great many places of interest are at walking distance. Relatively small hotel and dito rooms; but by making optmal use of the space you never have the feeling: small. For Paris standards: good value for money

Very well positioned, esp to Latin Quarter and wonderfully close to the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg. Breakfasts excellent and good to be able to eat in courtyard. Staff were exceptionally courteous and helpful. Lovely, easy feel to the place.

The room-size would ideally be a liitle larger. But it was perfectly adequate. Also felt room could be soundproofed more effectively -- not good to be kept awake by a guest in adjacent room drying her/his hair after midnight.
