If we had paid 1/2 to 3/4 of the price, we would have been estatic with the hotel, but after this night we stayed in more luxurious places in the Loire Valley for a fraction of the price.
While it was a good hotel and restaurant, I did not feel it was good value given that it's quite expensive.
Overall the hotel privdes an average service and resturant, but at very expensive prices.
There are plenty of other hotels to choose from that offer better service, better food and more realistic prices.
The location is excellent, the public room decor really needs to be updated and their staff are always very helpful.
The location was great, although Amboise doesn't exactly come alive at night - despite it being the height of the tourist season, most bars and many restaurants were closed at 9, so I would recommend Amboise as a base rather than a destination.
The hotel is in a good location, with lovely buildings, but needs considerable investment to bring it up to the standard it promises.
Superb location, the hotel was convenient to the center of Amboise and the staff were execeptionally helpful.
This was frustrating as I had communicated that they were near adult size (son 6 foot tall).
The bathroom, bed and restaurant were worth a 4.
The bed was quite comfortable unlike some of the rock hards beds we experienced in Italy.
We had a garden view room, and just from the bed our view was of a cliff wall across the way covered in trees, birds flying about, blue sky above and a cool valley breeze.
Our room was very spacious, good size bed which was comfortable.
Room was charming, view of both castle and Loire, exposed beams in high ceiling, comfortable beds, bathroom so spotlessly clean it appeared new.
Certainly given the price that we paid (480 euro for dinner, one bottle of wine, and room/breakfast for one night) it is not in any way a match for other hotels and restaurants in the region and is not to be recommended.
The average age of our fellow hotel guests seemed to be 70+, and with a very formal bar and restaurant (jacket and tie preferred) maybe we were just a little young!
We had taken the lunch in the restaurant 36 of hotel, but not stayed in the hotel.
Imagine that you are in a top notch French restaurant, the food was ambrosia.
Our room was very spacious and food in restaurant was very good.
The front desk staff puts some pressure on you every day to book dinner reservations in their dining room.
What is the matter with the staff of this hotel including the manager?
In easy walking distance of the town centre and the hotel service as very good.
The decor was nice and staff was friendly.
Road noise was a little loud and pool shut down early which was not as advertised.
We enjoyed the swimming pool late in the afternoon.
Everyone tried to be so helpful, when we wanted to swim at 1AM, the man at the desk went to the pool himself and removed the cleaning machine so we could swim.
