Las Rocas staff was great, the diving instructors very knowledgeable, accomodations were good, location was very good, just a short walk from the best beach in the island and with not as much sand flies as the other hotels at the beach.
The location of Las Rocas, at the end of West Bay Beach and within walking distance of West End village, is perfect.
We walked that beautiful stretch of beach at least twice a day, and agreed that we preferred the relative quiet of our location to the busier, more populated areas where there is a greater concentration of resorts.
12% sales tax, 10% kitchen staff tax, not to mention gratuity, excursion tax, water taxi fee, cab fee, airport depature fee enough already!
The busier town of West End is just a $2 taxi ride away if you want to try different food or shopping, or you can also take a short walk to West Beach.
Our room was very small, with a very uncomfortable bed.
They swept, made the bed, left toilet paper and that was about all.
We went to bed early and got up early, ate many of our meals at the delicious Las Rocas restaurant (fabulous.
The one thing I would say that wasn't great was the mattress on the bed.
The cabin was simple and clean, with a nice firm king-size bed and a quiet a/c.
Las Rocas had a restaurant/bar and dive shop conveniently located on premises.
From there you can easily visit every beach side bar and restaurant in the area.
Las Rocas really does have an excellent restaurant and bar.
A couple of minor items regarding the restaurant/bar.
I can't say enough about the food served at the restaurant here--I'm not sure I've had anything better, and we've eaten all over the world.
The staff ,from the grounds crew, to maid service, to the wait staff and diveshop were all welcoming and very attentive.
All the dive & service staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful.
First of all, the woman at the service desk knew nothing and was perhaps the most unhelpful person we meet all week.
Watching Melvin get the crabs out of the pool was a kick!
The small pool was perfect for the kids and us too.
Finaly, and very important for me, ther is a fitness center 5 minutes walking along the beach.
The wireless internet was flawless except for when the power went out.
The rooms were not luxurios but very comfortable and clean.
The rooms were clean and adequate but in my mind you can get better a better value proposition at some of the other local resorts.
