Staff were welcoming, approachable, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was excellent with a varied choice of items. Scenery and grounds around the hotel was beautiful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The spar is a brilliant facility which promoted an all round feeling of relaxation, the staff in the spar were also very welcoming and helpful. Rohans cocktails were excellent. Overall we had a wonderful stay at the hotel and would recommend staying there. Couldn't fault it !

The room was fab-loved the colour scheme and bathroom. Enjoyed Hobsons bar very much and walking around the grounds of the hotel. Had a very enjoyable stay and will go again soon.

Breakfast coffee & tea not up to much although the breakfast itself was excellent. Found what food you can get and where a bit confusing. Phoned reception to ask if we could have a steak in Purdeys in the evening and was told yes. When we got there this wasn't the case and was pointed to something else on the menu. However in the end we did manage to get a steak and it was very good. Menu not a great selection-lot of braised meat or fish and vegetable side order choice not huge.

Our room was great. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the meals in the terrace restaurant were fantastic. It was our first holiday with our 4 month old daughter we all really enjoyed the pool a great place for her to have her first swim.

We decided to treat ourselves to a treatment in the spa. We both booked a 55 min back massage which included a head massage and facial. I went first whilst my husband looked after our daughter. I got on the bed at 4.05 and I was back fully clothed and out paying my bill by 4.45 which by my reckoning makes it around a 40 min treatment max. She started with the back massage not once shutting up she can talk on an out breath. Telling me all about cruise ships ??? I just wanted to relax ... Then we moved on to the facial ( this was the best bit though she was still jawing my head off. Then she preceded on to what the hotel describes as a head massage though I would describe it as something you would get from a 5 year old budding hairdresser pretending to wash my hair and yes she is still talking the only reason I knew she had finished was because she opened the door and said right il see you out side when your dressed ...il get your bill ready. I thought this was an extra special way to end the treatment. I can't begin to describe my husbands thoughts about it needless to say should we return to the langdale we won't bother with any treatments ps his treatment lasted slightly shorter than mine. Guess she was on peace work.

    Comfortable. Friendly. Peaceful. Accommodating.

No immediate lake district views set in a wooded area. Trees obscure views but still lovely.

Nice room and a great bathroom - the jacuzzi was very much appreciated after climbing Ben Nevis the day before

Breakfast didn't start until 08:00, a bit late for walkers doing the 3-peaks, staff were very helpful and provided a 'continental' breakfast but it would have been nice to have had a cooked meal before tackling moutain No.2. Location - Yes you can walk Scafell Pike from the hotel but it's not close to the reconised routes which meant a 40-min drive

Our stay was last minute at only £99 for the night. The room was luxurious, the staff friendly and the service excellent. The best part of our stay had to be the food at the purdeys restaurant, this was the best food my partner and myself have tasted, it was exquisite and well deserved of the 2 rosettes, I will certainly be repeating the experience.

Excellent location, peaceful surroundings and perfectly situated for walking and touring the lake district. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable and the spa bath was lovely to come back to after a day's walking!

The staff very friendly, very accomodating, we had to leave early on the last day and before breakfast but the staff opened the breakfast area and had everything you could think of laid out for us couldn't of asked for more. Would definitely go back, but for longer next time.

The price of bar drinks seemed quite expensive, plus the ' mains' menu could be improved with an increase of meals that do not include chips or french fries.

Bed was comfortable and air bath was nice after long walks

This place is over-priced and they have shoe-horned a third bedroom into what was two bedrooms and are still charging for light airy spacious bedrooms which are in fact small, dark and overlooking the car park and service areas - really not worth the money and far better options available in the lakes. The food in restaurant was good, but again at £154 for a meal for two very overpriced.

Well positioned and ideal centre for walks in the Langdales. Comfortable and friendly. In a quiet location but accessible for other centres eg Coniston Windermere etc. We wanted a friendly but quieter break and this hotel satisfied our needs. We were able to eat and drink local ales at nearby pubs which were within walking distance. We forgot to take our swim suits which was a shame because the spa and pool looked very nice.

The Purdeys restaurant service in the evening was friendly but don't be in a hurry. The taster menu and accommpanying selected wine was expensive for what you got. The breakfasts were very good.
