From its seemingly inauspicious roots as a 19th century water purifying center in the central Mexican colonial city of Puebla which is located between Mexico City and Oaxaca, it has undergone an amazing transformation in the hands of architect Ricardo Legorreta into lodgings which seamlessly blend with the environs, adjacent to the historic Iglesia de San Fransisco. The design includes recycled materials such as bottles and glass fragments, but make no mistake there is nothing old about the rooms which have custom tile floors, wooden platform beds and chic designer baths, while there is also a glass pool, a restaurant with contemporary local cuisine as well as a terrace bar to enjoy the local views.

The five-star La Purificadora Hotel is perfectly situated in the central area of Puebla, near to the Zona Historica de Los Fuertes.

This historic Mexican colonial style building is housed in the 19th century water purifying factory.

The warm and cozy 26 guest rooms and suites are equipped with a customizable air conditioning and a hair dryer.

The on-site dining venue serves impressive regional cuisine in the stylish ambience.

        The place looks beautiful and very nice fireplaces in the lobby. The service is great, beds are comfortable and towels and linens are good, as well as Khiel's amenities. The restaurant is very good and the chef created one tasty treat after another.

        Lobby were beautiful, the individually controlled heating was welcome in Puebla in January and all the staff were more than helpful. Our room was great and the breakfast was delicious.

        The decor elegant and modern, in the other hand, the service is very very good, the bed and furniture orientation is weird, as well as the transparent walls and doors. Complimentary drink by the pool.

        A bit disappointing from a highly recommended restaurant, some nice reasonably priced wines on the menu and Mexican classic. The employees of the dining rooom expected a good propia.

        Hotel designers need to think more about noise and the cleanliness in the room could be improved.
