Too short a stay at La Palapa
In general: We were only there for 3 nights, but they were great. The service was outstanding, Rolando was awesome, all questions answered, (no concerns of consequence!) and help given in terms of area sites and excursions. I'd like to say we hated the place so no one else would find it, but we really did love it. Very simple and perfect if your demands are simple. It IS NOT a full service resort, which is where we were the next part of our trip. This was better. Location and surroundings: You can't beat this location. Fairly easy to find, though after 6-7 hours on the road and getting in around 10 PM, I'm not sure we could have found our hand in front of our face... The rooms are literally right on the sand, and the beach is maybe 100 ft/30 m away. The restaurant is attached, but not actually part of the hotel. We ate there for breakfast and late night snacks, but tried other local venues for evening meals. What we ate there was very good! Service: Hotel service was good. We did not require anything while we were there other than basic needs, although we did talk to the desk several times for concierge type services. They were great, and Rolando, our main contact was exceptional. Shower water was hot, plenty of pressure. Dining: As mentioned, only ate Breakfast and late night snacks, but all was fresh and good. Wait staff was all around, but we did seem to have a hard time getting milk for coffee...and the one real negative was we had a hard time getting coffee refills. The staff would come to our table, but then never bring them. We were two couples, and one of our group really was put off by this. I didn't think it was that big a deal. Sports and leisure: Didn't use their resources other than a massage, which was very good, right on the beach. I am amazed how they controlled the "sand" issue but they did! Room: Small and adequate for our needs. We were in #5 I think, a loft arrangement, which was good. Mattress was good. AC was good, with a remote that we used to good advantage. Useful tips: None really. The off-street parking is great, right at hand, and feels secure.
