The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, just a short walk away from the small fountain. The reception area has been refurbished and has a decent look. Some rooms have dated decor but some guests said they were OK. Staff provided decent service according to some reviews. Rooms have Wi-Fi as advertised, though the signal may not be strong enough in some areas of the hotel.
Guests complained about the unhelpful, impolite staff in some reviews.

Great location in a charming and artistic village. Room was nicely decorated and the beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the modern restaurant and the food was very good. The service was also great and the owner was very kind and helpful when there were no taxis to be found on New Year's Eve, and he even drove us to the nearest train station himself.
The WiFi was a bit slow at times, and there were no phones in the room or room service available. they charged us for breakfast even though we declined it the day before, but it was quickly resolved.

Very nice hotel in the center of Barbizon, a lot of cafés, shops and restaurants nearby ("La Tortue" just on the other side of the street is small, but sincerely recommended). The rooms are comfortable and equipped with everything you need, just a little dark. W-Lan connection was excellent. The staff's English was quite good and everyone was very courteous. We will quite possibly be staying here again.

We loved the hotel's cleanliness and facilities. Parking was available and we appreciated the proximity to the small fountain. The staff was friendly and helpful. Transport to the nearest train station was easy.
Couldn't stay longer.

It is situated in a beautiful village. Lots of art galleries and restaurants. hotel is unusual and delightful. We stayed her over 40 years ago and had lovely memories and were not disappointed revisiting. Good secure parking.
We knew it had no lift but some rooms are up a few stairs so need to stipulate if you need downstairs room. Typical French breakfast. Good quality but not much of it. Cheaper and better to go to the patisserie!

Location is excellent - in the centre of a very pretty village surrounded by forestry. Easy access to Paris. Staff were very friendly both to me and my Basset hound. We were made to feel like family. My advice, is to try just a little french when you go to France - it goes a long way! The hotel has a contemporary interior which has been beautifully designed. There is a large courtyard garden for dining and relaxation. The food was to a high standard and comparable to a decent London restaurant. The house wine was good. The hotel has free parking or you can easily park in the village. Real value for money!
My room was a little 'snug ' but nicely designed and there were exterior stairs to some rooms (no lift.) There was no sound insulation to the room and I think my room was above the main boiler, so there were sounds coming from that. There was an old, tired-looking,stained carpet in the room - but then, I did have a dog with me.I was informed that they were going to change it to parquet flooring... Breakfast was very basic, but fresh and tasty. Please do not let any of the above put you off. I have stayed in many hotels around the world (even some of the best) and I left this hotel with a smile on my face. Enjoy!

Celebrating New Year's Eve in this hotel was a great decision! The restaurant served delicious food, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect for exploring the charming village and nearby attractions. We also loved the festive atmosphere and decorations, which added to the holiday spirit.
The room was not as clean as we expected, and the bed was uncomfortable. the Wi-Fi signal was weak and spotty, making it difficult to stay connected.

The setting is attractive.
Indifferent cleanliness. Stuffy humid room. Ventilation was poor. Was unable to read comments on the website from previous travellers. Hopeless TV as most stations inoperative.

I'm sad to say our stay at Le Cle d'Or was extraordinarily disappointing. I t had not received great reviews before I knew, but I didn't know that it was past of a French holiday weekend and everyone from Paris gets our of the city so none of my first choices were available. There wasnot a shred of professionalism in our greeting, nor warmth. The rooms were horrid...minute, open to passere-by and the baths were soo small to change one's mind. The location is wonderful and this could be a delightful small hotel, but it needs cleaning up, modernizing and a far less amateur management. It has great potential but I woulr=d never recommend it to anyone now.

It was centrally located. We could leave some food in the refrigerator. The gardien was prepared to come out of his bed to open the door at midnight.
Electricity was not working properly. The fact that we had to wake up the gardien at midnight. The bathtube. You have to hold the showerhandle. It is very old fashoined.

Location ideal for visiting Maison atelier Jean François MILLET and the Musée Ganne.
Bathroom separated by curtain from bedroom. Rather overpriced.
