In addition to its other virtues, this hotel gave better value for the money than anywhere else we stayed in the UK.

For the same price as 2 hotel rooms we booked the Knight Residence and what an absolute joy.
The location is surprisingly quiet given the apartment's proximity to downtown Edinburgh.
Very nice place (although as mentioned in other reviews not the best location in terms of the strip clubs & lap dancing establishments) and very close to Grassmarket and the castle.
The location is close to all the attractions and amenities and we especially loved strolling to the Grassmarket area in the evenings.
The staff was very helpful with any questions, and helped set up a taxi for our trip back to the airport.
We found it easy to walk to places, take the buses and also taxis.
The room had 2 bedrooms (1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds), they had set up a pack-n-play (per our request) for our daughter and even left her a little bear as a welcome).
The apartment is excellent when you have young kids as they can go to bed early in the bedroom while the adults have the main room to relax in.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the apartments well appointed, spacious (bedroom/s, sitting room, dining area, kitchen, hall and bathroom) and comfortable.
As we weren't a couple and had asked for twin beds we were upgraded to a 2 bed apartment at no extra cost.
The apartment (3 bedrooms in the High Riggs Street building) was fabulous: 2 full baths, full kitchen with washer/dryer, seperate dining room and lounge.
Good restaurants in the area (try Frankie's for good Italian and Two Thin Laddies for wonderful breakfasts).
The bar and restaurant guide and tourist leaflets came in handy too.
Residence in advance in relation to restaurant recommendations/reservations went unanswered (try Frankies for dinner, and Monster Mash for breakfast);.
They had some breakfast food for us which was very helpful.
Try the Maison Bleue restaurant for great food - especially with the 3 course pre-theatre special at only £9.
Maid service and front desk was very efficient and helpful.
Staff was very friendly and concierge was extremely helpful.
The secure parking meant the car was off the icy roads, price was reasonable by UK standards and in the lobby were various brochures of local attractions.
Good towels, clever hi-fi and decent welcome pack felt like 'extras', too, and the secure parking was a boon, all at - for Edinburgh - a v reasonable price.
Lots of movies were provided and more were available in the lobby.
Example: When our laptap couldn't connect to the free wi-fi, they lent us a laptop for 2 days.
They also have wired internet access which is FREE (outlet was near the dinning table).
The rooms were very clean - the kitchen was spotless as were all appliances and utensils.
The rooms were fresh and clean and contained every facility.
We had three apartments, which were all a good size, and were immaculately clean and tidy.
The apartment was clean tidy, spacious and well equiped.
The staff were very helpfull, the concierges were extremely helpful and the apartment was very clean.
