      Location is good.

Two items could use improvement. The first was the bed - it was not very supportive (sore backs). The second was the way in which the staff use the elevator. We were on the 5th floor of the building (believe there are 8 or 9 floors). Each morning, we would wait for 5 minutes or so after calling the elevator because the staff use it to load up both garbage and dirty linens. On several occasions we were unable to fit in the elevator after waiting. Assuming there is no freight elevator, you would think they could store the items on each floor and remove them via the elevator when nobody is using it - middle of the night maybe? We eventually began using the stairs - imagine the difficulty for an older couple on the top floors.

      Good location in downtown

The room too small related to room's price

Good location to all services (public transport and shops). Good service from the staff and concierge, very knowledgeable about the area and what it can offer. Can organise tours and just about anything within reason. A little expensive, but I found all hotels in America to be expensive.

A little too much wear in the room (staining on walls from hands etc and generally needs repainting), stairwell on to first floor has badly worn carpet also. Shower tool far too long to produce hot water, the shower door in room 108 where I was wouldn't shut and consequently water leaked all over the floor.

The location and friendly desk staff were great. The bed was comfortable, the ambience of the hotel just fine.

Our room was fine until we tried to shower and there was almost no hot water. In addition, we found several long black hairs in the tub (hairs that were not ours. The door knob fell off the bathroom door but when we saw a maintenance man he fixed it immediately.I Assume the shower issues were not the norm and would stay in the hotel again; first, though, I would ask to have a room with a better shower!

Excellent Location. Accross from exellent and affordable public parking garage. Right next door to my favorite San Francisco breakfast restaurant: Cafe Mason.

Room and bathroom both very small. No Air Con available in my room, but you can open the window (very bad view too). The TV was almost malfunctioning. If you don't pay more than $150 a night, then it may be OK, but not more than that please.

The hotel was very close to union Square.

The rooms had paper thin walls and every sound from the flushing of a toilet sounded like it was in your room. No airconditioning or fridge and the lift broke down on our first day and was not working a week later. It was clean and the bed comfortable and well located but I doubt I would stay again.

The location is good – the hotel is located in Mason street near Union Square. The room was very clean.

The hotel seems to be quite old. There were a couple of small annoyances due to that, like gurgling/ticking noises of pipes, waiting a few minutes for warm water in the shower, and (at least in the room I stayed in) blind-like windows in the bathroom and even one panel in the main room that could not been fully shut. So street noise was always a little bit more present than I expected (but I could sleep anyway).

The rooms were very quiet and the beds extremely comfortable. It was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend it to others. The proximity to Union Square was also a bonus.

Location is good; free wi-fi in the rooms

In the first room the bathroom window could not be closed properly, so it was very cold and I couldn't even take a shower! The room I moved into the day after was much better. In the rooms there is a very basic cofee/tea maker but no fridge.

The location is great, the staff very friendly, and the room is well equipped.

The room was not really quiet (bad windows) and the free wi-fi slow.

Proximity to centre of town.Staff were excellent.

We had trouble with the hot water. There was neer any when we wanted a shower. After speaking with the front desk they just said to run all the taps until the hot water started. Not really satisfactory. The rooms were very, very small.

I loved the proximity to everything I wanted to see and do in San Francisco and the very helpful staff!

My only complaint would be that our room was next to the elevator and it could be heard all night going up and down the cable in the shaft.

Excellent location downtown and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room is small and the room we had was very noisy because of a roaring machine on a nearby roof, probably the hotel aircondition motor. Aside from the noise the stay was very good.
