Based on some of the reviews in the past few months I was worried about the Kent, but for the price (given the general outrageous prices of Sout Beach hotels), I think it was more than satisfactory.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone who is on a budget who wants to save their money on food and drinks and just needs a place to crash.
Stayed at the Kent for a 2 night weekend getwaway - now I live close to miami and come there constantly, and found the Kent to be one of the better hotels i've stayed in for the price.
Good location, clean hotel option in South Beach and great price.
It is located in a prime location, walking distance to Espenola Way and Linclon Road.
A two minute walk to Miami's hot, the location is great and this hotel is an excellent base close to the beach.
No free internet in the main room, the room was very clean, no complaints as fas as that goes, the location is great!
The only time we took a cab was to Joe's (it was about 13 blocks away) but otherwise we were able to walk everywhere.
They stored our bags for us before check out and called us a cab to the Cruise terminal.
Rooms : although the beds are comfortable and the rooms not too tiny, the lilac walls, robes and bed-covers make you feel sick after a few days.
The guest rooms and the bathrooms were small and reminded me alot like a dorm room.
Our room had a queen bed and was much smaller than a friend's room that had a king bed, larger bathroom, and a bean bag chair although we both were charged the same.
There was no bath tub in our room, just a sink, toilet and shower head with a shower curtain.
We had to change rooms twice, they gave me a room with one bed and I had already paid for a room with two, and we had to be issued new room keys three times!
There is no restaurant or bar in this hotel so you will be able to get a good nights sleep " No lobby noise" The hotel is in a great location one street over from Ocean Drive and the beach is just steps from Ocean so you cant go wrong.
Atlantic restaurant has great breakfast for $4.
There's also a continental breakfast that isn't too bad (you can't expect much from continental breakfasts these days).
The hotel is in an amazing location just around the corner from the beach as well as shops and restaurants.
4 Blocks from Espanola Way - where there are some other awesome restaurants and shops, and Bodies Kneaded massage on the corner of Drexel/Espanola.
The front desk staff was helpful and the breakfast in the morning was cinnimon buns, muffins, juice and coffee.
We did our best to drive the front desk staff crazy with questions - but all were answered with a smile and enjoyed their restaurant recommendations!
The location was excellent, the staff at the hotel was very friendly and the service was good.
Although it doesnt have a pool, you dont need it with the beach 1 block away.
I wish there was a pool instead of a garden.
The lobby has a very "unique" decor that goes well with this area, everything is brightly colored.
They also have wireless internet access throughout the hotel.
I found the hotel to be extremely clean, our room was spotless, and it came with DVD player and big plasma T.
My room was extremely clean, and noise level is typical for any city the size of miami, not to mention you are on South Beach, which is about 20 blocks long, yet the whole city gathers in this area to party, what do you expect?
The staff was extremely helpful, the room was clean.
The bathrooms were clean and stocked with some higher end toiletries which my wife loved.
The new hardwood floors are beautiful and maintained well, and the bathrooms are very clean.
