Given the prices of all the other hotels in this area, Kensington Park offers one of the best combinations of location and price around.
This hotel's location can't be beat, one block away from Union Square, with an extremely reasonable price for such a big city.
I have been a guest at this hotel many times over the years and have always found it to be a pleasurable stay with great value.
If you're an Elk's member you get a special rate which is half the price of the area hotels.

Bob ensured that we had a shuttle bus booked for the trip out to the airport for when we left, gave us maps of San Francisco, told us the best places to eat, buy clothes, and in general get the most out of our stay.
If you're travelling in from SF airport, take the BART to Powell / Market Street station.

We took the offer of a suite at the Diva, all to find a microscopic room, microscopic bathroom, unsafe location in San Fran and a murphy bed as the 'second' double.
The rooms are an acceptable size but have comfortable beds, plasma screen TVs and a bath tub.
The Cosmopolitan restaurant has great food and some of the best Cosmo's, but better than that, see Sam at the bar for a Huckleberry martini.
Rooms are clean, the adjacent Farallon Restaurant is one of the best in SF and a nice Irish piano bar/pub that is very casual.
Chinatown is a short walk away as are the many shops in the area and restaurants to suit all.
The location can't be beat- walk to numerous restaurants, shops, and public transit to anywhere in town.
Loris diner is just down the road from the hotel and they do great breakfasts.

Turn left out the hotel lobby and you're standing where you can catch the famous cable car to Fisherman's Wharf or take a short walk to Chinatown.
A pianist in the lobby entertained as we returned one evening around 9:30pm - apparently he had been there since late afternoon!
Furthermore under stay free, the price is reasonable and the Lobby is gorgeous.
For those who travel with a computer, the hotel also provides wireless.
