Kapalua Villas

The reason we loved this location was that it was close to Lahaina, yet it was quiet and peaceful.

We chose Kapalua because of the geographic location, my husband knew the Mercedes-Benz Championship was played there, so we had an idea that it might be a place worth staying at.

The location is peaceful and gorgeous, away from the noise and crowds of Lahaina and Kaanapali.

We flew into the Kapalua airport (JHM) and the shuttle van picked us up promptly.

Kapalua is about an hour from the airport and 20-30 min from Lahaina.

When we got there, we didn't get the bed sizes we requested, the toilet was broken, and one of the beds was concave.

The living room had a pull-out bed and flat screen tv.

Bedroom had a king sized bed and smaller flat screen tv and dvd player.

Each bedroom had a window unit which cooled down the bedrooms, but didnt do much for the living room.

The huge 2 bedroom villa had 2 master bedrooms each with its own ensuite bathroom, walk-in closet and large flat screen television.

At the Kapalua resort, there are some good restaurants including the Pineapple Grill, which is a very good Asian-Hawaiian restaurant.

This beach looked nice, and had a bar and restaurant on the beach run by the Ritz Carlton.

Villas" offer the best family meal alternativeas well, so you can choose to eat any specific breakfast, lunch or dinner meal with the full kitchen, when you get tired of spending $80-$100 per meal during an extended stay here (ours was 8 days).

We highly recommend purchasing basic breakfast and light lunch foodstuffs - it was very very nice being able to eat breakfast at our own pace - vs.

We had lunch at the Honolua Store which has a great selection of breakfast and lunch items that I recommend highly - you order at a counter and eat at tables outside.

We had inquired how long this had been going on and while the front desk staff was cordial they apparently were not at all informed or were properly trained to give us an honest response.

Tom, in concierge was professional with a warmth and kid glove service.

I was pleasantly surprised by our experience with the front office, concierge, and all other support staff.

There isn’t any workout room at all in this vast complex, (I was told that there was) and the Ritz fitness center is only available if you book a spa treatment, meaning each workout would set you back well over $100!

The shuttle will take you anywhere in the resort for free, free WI FI internet at both, you may use the Ritz pool for free we never paid the $15 other people said they paid.

While we rented a car, I found taking the shuttle to the Ritz, beaches, store, golf courses, much more efficient than driving ourselves and parking.

High speed internet is a requisite for us ---- no problem there.

Once we alerted the property managers, they switched us to a beautiful, clean 2 bedroom with dizzying views.

The decor in the rooms were a bit old, but can be considered quite clean given their age.
