I recently stayed at a traditional Japanese hotel in Yamanashi and it was an amazing experience. The location was perfect, with Mt Fuji and the Itchiku Kubota museum nearby. The room was spacious and had sliding partition doors, giving it an authentic feel. The service was excellent, with friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The traditional banquet was a highlight, with delicious food and entertainment. it was a fantastic and original experience.
The spa facilities were a bit limited, with only hand towels provided for modesty during the Japanese-style bath.

Traditional and cultural experience. The entertainment at dinner was excellent, and the communal bath was nice.
The hotel was dated and could use some refurbishing. The rooms smelled musty, and the futons were uncomfortable.

The hotel was a great place to experience traditional Japanese hospitality. We particularly enjoyed the traditional banquet and the hot springs. The location was also very convenient, with easy access to popular tourist attractions. The staff was friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier.
The hotel lacked some modern amenities that we have come to expect from hotels. The lack of privacy in the hot springs, with only a hand towel to cover oneself, was uncomfortable.
