  My room contained a mismatched coffee maker and carafe, where the the carafe never reached the release valve at the base of the filter basket. I was nearly scalded when the filter basket filled with scalding water collapsed from its weight.

  After watching the short video on the Inn at Jim Thorpe's website, I had high expectations for a step back in time with a high standard of service. What I encountered was disappointment after disappointment, and the worst customer service that I have ever encountered at a hotel. The true test of a hotel is customer service, and the Inn at Jim Thorpe failed abysmally. After showing the senior housekeeper the next morning, the front desk's response was to request payment in full, with no discount offered. It required 2 emails to the hotel's manager to even get him to understand that the coffee maker and carafe were mismatched which he regarded as an "inconvenience' rather than gross negligence endangering the health and safety of a guest. A faux fantasy and abysmal customer service.

  Jamie, who happened to be at the front desk was very helpful, and was even waiting for my wife and I outside as we pulled in. Needless to say the hotel staff is very helpful and informative. The room we stayed in was a little small, but it had everything we needed, and all was clean and well maintained.
