Hotel Inglaterra Estoril

It's in a good location - just 5 minutes walk down to the seaside, and then it's easy to get into Lisbon by train, to walk/train to Caiscais or to go further afield (Sintra).

We had to leave to the airport early morning before the breakfast starts, the hotel's location is very convenient and the veranda overlooking the pool is beautiful - exactly like the photos.

The location is ideal and the little town of Estoril is pretty quiet.

Taxis were also good value, as we had a few overcast days and got a taxi to "Cascais Shopping", a large shopping mall that's a 10 minute taxi ride for about EUR4.

A short 5 min walk to the train station takes you into Cascais (5mins) or through to Lisbon (30mins).

When we checked in, the room we had requested (king bed, non smoking) was not "available.

We ended up in a smoking room with a king bed for the next two nights.

Rooms are well decorated, but they have a tiny bathroom.

TV in de bedroom + another in separate living room.

Perhaps the bathrooms could do with a bit more attention, eg the bath's resurfacing was wearing off.

+Acceptable bedrooms, the poolside bar does a good selection of daytime snacks and cascais has many great restaurants.

A nice bar, has a much better choice of restaurants.

And, for me, a 4 star hotel has to provide you a high service of attendance at all services (restaurant, breakfast, etc).

But worst of all was the restaurant, we only risked breakfast!

Most of the time we went to Cascais to eat, but beware most of the obvious tourist trap restaurants will over charge you for rubbish bog standard food so its best to go off down some of the side streets.

Staff very friendly at reception to bar area and a lovely big old hotel.

Not suitable for asthmatics as heavy fumes from roads reach to the pool area and there is lots of smoking in reception area - even Reception staff are smoking.

What I really didn’t like was the staff service.

It’s a pitty, because I think this hotel could (with new carpets, better food service and staff) become one of the best 4 stars hotels of Estoril, since it’s a beautiful building and has all the conditions for it.

A lovely pool area, enjoyable stay and since its a beautiful building.

Sintra so sitting by the pool was not the most peaceful of experiences.

The swimming pool and gardens are very pleasant and the nearby building works were not too obstrusive.

Chamber maid kept the rooms spotless, the hotel is very clean.

The room wa lovely, very clean and stylish with a view of the bay.
