All in all this is an amazing hotel, definately value for money.
I'll post a Sorrento restaurant (Trattoria etc) report elsewhere, but in summary this is a lovely quaint well-presented hotel offering very good service & value in a superb position, we had a very pleasant stay.
This could be a great place, it's the second and the last time I come to this 4 star hotel which charges 4 star prices and only gives 2 star service.
Try Zi'ntonios for a good value tourist menu and fun with the waiter and Vecchia Surriento - just 20 metres up the street opposite the hotel entrance for freshly made sandwiches, home-made cheese and spotlessly clean.
We were supposed to stay at Flora (terrible location next to a gas station), but thank G-d two weeks before the departure the hotel was changed to the Imperial Tramontano.
All in all, its a beautiful hotel, in a beautiful location, in a beautiful town.
Central location, in heart of Old Town and on edge of main harbour (Marina Piccola), also points definately in favour of this truly exceptional hotel.
All further expenses at the hotel - lunches, drinks, wine, excursions, transport to airport etc have to be PAID IN CASH.
The journey from Naples airport takes about an hour, through the very heavy traffic, but is really unavoidable if you book a passage.
Our room was on the 4th floor, it was spacious with large bed, desk & sofa, the views across the Bay of Naples to Vesuvius were simply stunning & the large balcony contained classic wrought iron table & chairs.
We did book a sea-view with balcony but finished up on a high corner room with a restricted view which was small compared to others, especially the bathroom which only had a stand-alone corner shower compartment and no bath.
The room was beautifully decorated and had a very large bathroom with hot water all the time.
The rooms were charming, very large, clean, the bathroom was a bit dated and the hairdryer kept falling apart, but other than that, no complaints!
4) The bath/shower had no curtain/screen, so our bathroom was soaked with water whenever one of us wanted to take a shower.
Would recommend staying bed and breakfast but taking advantage of the 18 euro evening meal in the hotel restaurant - excellent value and impossible to eat it all - again, we found the restaurant service impeccable.
The breakfast included in the rate was in the restaurant with a beautiful view and the food was outstanding.
This area has many shops and restaurants, like Fauno Bar, and serves as the heart of tourist activities in the area.
Breakfast every morning in the restaurant overlooking the Bay of Naple and Vesuvious off in the distance, beautiful setting!
The hotel restaurant is exellent and its staff headed by Luigi is superb - sumptuous breakfast each day.
All the staff were lovely, from the porter & cleaners to the waiters and reception staff.
This extended all the way from the reception and concierge to the head waiter making sure he had hot chocolate at breakfast, which rather than arriving boiling hot had been made at a temperature that he could drink immediately.
All the staff were lovely and room service was prompt albeit pricy.
Overall we had a wonderful holiday mainly due to the excellent service from the friendliest staff I have ever encountered.
The pool isn't large & as with the vast majority of Italian hotels the sunbeds here & on the sea piers below the hotel (serviced by private lift to save hundreds of steep steps) are close together, but this is Italy!
One good thing was the free car parking at the hotel.
Car parking in Sorrento is luxury, and there was adequate space here.
The pool area was always clean, our room at the hotel had a spectacular view of Vesuvius and the staff were on the whole friendly and helpful.
The rooms were spotless and ours overlooked the ocean with Mount Vesuvious in the background, it really was a view to die for.
However, the rooms were better than expected, in fact clean, stylish, roomy and luxurious!
Our room was very clean and comfortable, room 329.
The hotel is in great shape, the rooms were very clean and the views were incredible.
