Illusion Boutique Hotel Playa del Carmen

The hotel location is well situated between the beach, the main ave.

The location is also perfect, very close to the beach and the main street.

The location is also excellent - really close to the beach and also to all the shops, bars and restaurants.

Then to top it off, they arranged a taxi for us to the Cancun airport, despite taxis being very few and far between at that point.

We checked in Wednesday afternoon after arriving in Playa in haste from Cozumel, on our way to the airport for an emergency flight home before Wilma hit.

The room was spacious and comfortable (the bed was a bit hard, which seems to be a theme in this region of Mexico), and it was always cool when we got back, even with the air conditioning off.

Nice rooms (spacious for a hotel in this class), very clean, good bathrooms and beds not too hard.

WE wanted to stay in the room and see the "ocean view", EVERYBODY could see us in our bed, because it was, honestly, a TERRACE VIEW!

The whole place is super clean and the maids even make these cool swans out of your towels on your bed (Oh yeah, and spread flower pedals everywhere too)!

There was a mosquito net over our bed, which didn't heighten the romance at all and just made it more difficult to reach anything or watch tv.

The rooftop bar was not open when we were there, the pool is tiny, and the breakfast very basic, but none of these were important to us with the beach and a thousand bars and restaurants within a few minutes' walk.

The prices of food in restaurants are pretty high, but there is a Wal-Mart with Mexican cuisine inside for a 10m walk straight from the hotel that is a good choice for not burning all the money for food.

The roof-top bar also offers happy hour, sofas for a great price and 50 meters away from the famous 5ta avenida all the restaurants.

Also, there is an excellent juice bar/restaurant on 5th Ave called cafe tropical.

About the breakfast service, they could improve the quality of the continental breakfast ( the pastries seemed old ) and the restaurant staff did nothing to improve the experience.

Staff was polite, funny, and uber-helpful, including everyone from the reception desk to the maids to the breakfast cooks.

The staff was so friendly and nice, from the front desk to the general manager!

24 and since i get there i fell like i haven´t left my home, the attention was excellent, i felt i was never desatented, and i woluld like to thanks all the staff of the hotel for your services, they were great.

Our original Luxury Suite was adequate altho all elevator traffic had to pass by the sliding glass doors on their way to the pool deck.

There is a lot of construction going on all around this hotel, and unfortunately much of the view of the ocean from the pool terrace is now obstructed.

There is a roof-top pool (small) and loungers which we enjoyed, but we wouldn't spend the entire week up there.

There is free wireless internet throughout hotel.

The staff was friendly and very helpful, the room clean, comfortable and well appointed.

In addition our room was spotless, the two gentlemen operating the breakfast were also incredibly friendly.

Also the room was very clean and attractive, the continental breakfast was appreciated in the morning to get ourselves going for the day.

The hotel is nice, the staff is very friendly and rooms at the Illusion are as recent reviewers describe - clean.

Rooms were clean and the top floor was wonderful.
