  The manager at the Hyatt, Luis Navarro, went above and beyond his call of duty to make this bad experience into a Great One! First, Luis "comped" my room at the Bahia Mar, upgraded me to a junior suite, and provided complimentary breakfast's for the rest of my stay. In addition, my travel companion and I had extended our vacation and Luis provided us a reasonable rate at the Hyatt with a junior suite. The room was large, luxurious, and had huge balconies. I give this hotel an Excellent rating along with Luis Navarro, the manager on staff during my stay!

  After traveling for 16 hours, I arrived at the Hyatt only to find that maintenance problems made my room unavailable.

  The customer service at this hotel - - OUTSTANDING! The shuttle to the beach, the directions and advice from the gentlemen that greeted me outside the hotel, the lady that checked me in, the staff that maintained my room – every person made me feel at home and provided top-notch customer service. Then, my co-worker arrived later that evening and her room was not available because of “mechanical problems. Unfortunately, they had to put her at another location for one evening but the customer service sprang into action. Luis (I think his last name was Navaro) demonstrated excellent customer service in realizing our frustration and making sure that the remainder of her (and my) stay was outstanding. The staff of the Hyatt Pier 66, and Luis in particular, is responsible for producing a loyal Hyatt customer for years to come.

  I was in a Pool room right next to the pool! Literally I walked from my patio about 25 feet to the pool everyday. Great services by the pool also such as the cold towels and mist refresher spray! The air conditioning was very cold, the beds were soft and the pillows the best! The bathroom was BIG and the shower was clean and the water pressure was in top condition!

  There are 2 pools and a xxxxlarge hot tub!

  We had a ground floor room where you could walk out your sliding glass patio door to the marina. The room was very cleans and the two double beds were excellent. Although dated, via old electrical outlets and the large bathroom with single counter sink, it did have a good size closet with full size safe and a plasma TV. The room also contained and empty refrigerator and a coffee maker. The pools and jacuzzi were very large and the landscaping very nice. They are refurbishing the lobby and other areas, but we were not affected by this.

  The location is on the waterway 5 minutes from the beach, 5 minutes from Las Olas Blvd. The view from the tower rooms is impressive--watch the mega yachts go by. Renovated rooms are clean, nice bathrooms, plasma tvs, free internet, balconies, and excellent beds with down comforters. The staff could not be nicer (great with my small children) and the recently renovated pool is fabulous! The hotel has a marina, and is on the water taxi route--a great way to travel for a 2-3 hour dinner excursion.

  The first thing was that that don'y tell you they charge for parking, ($20 per night) and they are required to disclose this but refused to credit the parking fees. The lobby smelled of rotten eggs from old water left in fountains under construction, and the entire first floor was a mess. Then we had to wade through anckle deep water because the grounds were flooded (when there had been no rain) or walk through soogy wet grass to get to our room. Once we arrived to our room we discovered the sliding door did not lock, and the arm bar would fall down if you move the door back and forth a couple of times. It's very out dated even though they are trying to update it, it's very cheaply done and the bathrooms are sorry!

  Our room in the towers had a refrigerator with a sign on the front stating that it was provided for the convenience of the guests. Watch carefully for all of the hidden costs at this place which also charges for all parking - self parking and valet.

  The pool area looks beautiful at night, but during the day, the wall of water structures were rusted and in disrepair.

  The "garden view" rooms are equivalent to roadside motels. The doors to the rooms are rusted and have been repainted several times. Our room, though "renovated", appears very dated. The bathroom is small and minimally updated, the sink was cracked, the door and doorstop rusted, and the vent did not work. There was a new LCD TV, new furniture and carpeting, as well as an unstocked minibar. The ventilation system was old and did not cool or dehumidify the room!

  Unless you were in the lobby, you would not know that renovations were going on. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable. The room service was timely and the food was very good and hot. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had all the amenities of a nicer hotel. The location was easy to find and near a lot of attractions.

  The cleaning staff did not empty our garbage when they cleaned our room one day -- we had to find them in the hallway to give our garbage to them. The room itself had clean sheets, a lovely map on the wall, a simple coffee maker, and shampoo/conditioner.

  The room's 70's decor was not in line with what we expected at a hotel claiming to be 4-stars. Unfortunately, the A/C did not dehumidify the air; the room had a musty smell, and we sweated profusely during the night because of the humidity. There were only 2 electrical outlets in the room, which were filled with plugs for the room's lamps, tv, and snack bar (which, by the way, was not in use but was empty). We had to purchase a multiplug extension cord in order to charge our cell phones and use our laptop. The pool was lovely, but we didn't use it during our stay, yet were charged the $12/day "resort fee. Despite paying the $20/day to park, we had to walk another 200 yds with our luggage from the closest point in the parking lot, through the courtyard to our room.
