  The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful, the layout of the hotel for the convention was great, the food was excellent (though it's a bit on the high side and downtown restaurants close down over the weekend), the beds were wonderful, coffee maker in the room a nice start to the day, flat screen TV nice, newly remodeled rooms are done tastefully and clean (they're still working on some of the floors), meetings rooms worked well for the Convention, check-out was efficient; all in all, an excellent place to stay.

  I stayed here for 2 nights in a King room and found it to be very comfortable. With 6 pillows on the bed I was in heaven. The room was very clean and furnishings were great. Everyone I encountered on staff was eager to do whatever they could to make my stay better. I used their free shuttle to get to the convention center--convenient and no parking expense.

  The air conditioner vent has black soot around it, looks like it’s never been cleaned. This is a very busy hotel and saw many different groups, (youth soccer teams, and large family reunions) the staff was pleasant but had a hard time controlling the teens in the lobby area which were running wild and throwing food.

  Once checked in and into our room, I discover dirty towels on the floor from the previous guest. Stains on the carpet, used soap bar in tub, need I go on? I called front desk to have dirty towels removed, when back in my rooms a few hours later after dinner they were still there, had to call again. The beds were lumpy and uncomfortable, furniture in the rooms were in need of update.

  The room was bright, views of Houston very also very good.

  First impressions were very impressive, the lobby area is spacious, and has a very upmarket feel to it. I didn’t spend too much time in my room so this didn’t really bother me. Internet access is also not complimentary which is a shame. If you suffer from a fear of heights this may not be the hotel for you as I believe the only elevators they have are either glass fronted onto the lobby or onto the pavement outside.

  I stayed at this hotel for almost two weeks in two different rooms (I left over a weekend). For me, there are three major requirements of a hotel room. As others have noted, the open atrium concept is inviting at first glance, until you realize the primary shortcoming- even on the 15th and 21st floors that I stayed on, you could hear the lobby bar and lobby "hustle and bustle" clearly through the door of the room until well after midnight. And with paper-thin walls, I could hear my neighbour's phone conversations. Both rooms were spotless and were kept that way throughout my stay. 3) Thirdly, a hotel room must be comfortable- and, here we have strike two. The first room I stayed in had a mattress that must have first come from a yard sale, with a very lumpy mattress cover on top.

  The room was large, the amenities on par for a Hyatt, but I found the hotel quite noisy. My room was on the 11th floor, and at night I could hear the people at the bar partying up until after midnight. Also there supposedly is self parking but after driving around the blocks 4 times I gave up trying to find the entrance and ended up using valet parking ($21). I paid $69/night so it was worth staying here at that price, I wouldn't pay $200+ for a room here.

  Service was fine, but the nearly inedible and of course, very expensive. This gets to be quite the predicament when ten people get on the elevator, let alone the people who get on for the first time and can't figure it out. If you stand outside the hotel for more than 5 minutes, there's a good chance you'll get asked for money. I did while waiting for a shuttle - twice in the matter of a few minutes and hotel staff did nothing about it. In fairness, I will say the beds are very comfortable and the front desk polite and efficient.

  There was trash under the bed, a previous guest's "Gold Toe" sock wrappers in the drawers, and furniture that hadn't been dusted in some time. Probably the worst room service food I've ever had. Being in an area with a lot of homeless people around, you have to use your room key in the elevator to be able to get to your room.
