Humphreys Half Moon Inn & Suites

The location is a pleasant 10/15 minute drive along the bay to Downtown, the hotel is conveniently located near major roads you have a car and a "heavenly bed" at the Westin is FAR more comfortable.

The location on Shelter island is great - nice and calm great views over SD and the harbour but also close to drive to all the attractions.

The convenience to other areas, evening walks at the nearby beach were great and hotels location was perfect for our purpose.

The Motel has complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport and Amtrak Station every half hour.

To go to the main shopping area you will need a taxi/bus which will probably cost you in the region of $20 each way.

My wife and I found the suite layout a bit strange: the bed is near the door in one half, a TV and bar area separates the bedroom from the living room that opens onto a porch area with view of the concert site.

There was so much furniture in the room (or the room was so small) it was difficult to get to the bathroom because there was only about a foot between the bed and the bathroom area wall.

Everyone enjoyed their room accommodations, and we had rooms located throughout their facilities (poolside& garden view rooms w/ two queen beds and an executive suite with a fantastic view of the marina).

The room has a comfy bed, the bathroom is big, and the dressing area is right outside the bathroom (great if you have two people trying to get ready at the same time!

The room had a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, and living room with sofa bed.

There are several restaurants & bars you can walk to from Humphreys & we particularly enjoyed Miguels (Mexican) & Fiddler's Green (casual bar & restaurant upstairs).

Make sure you eat breakfast at the restaurant as the view is magic and the food delicious.

The food at the restaurant was great both times we ate there - the light dinner and hearty breakfast were both great - the wait staff attentive and friendly.

The restaurant at Humphreys is excellent also, we had a bar meal one night and a meal in the restaurant the second night - both were beautiful.

The restaurant onsite was fabulous for breakfast, had a great view of the harbor and very healthy meal choices.

The front desk staff were brilliant, the service at breakfast was superb and the pool is the best of many we sampled on this holiday.

The grounds were clean, the maid service good, the restaurant staff friendly.

The hotel staff was pleasant and the maid service was excellent.

There are nice activities on the grounds, including a very nice heated pool, jacuzzi, croquet, and a putting green, plus San Diego bay is across the street for a nice walk and view of downtown San Diego.

The gardens, pool area and lobby are all very pleasant and the hotel has its own laundry, though it closes at 4.

The pool was nice, but crowded on the weekend, and we tried to get in the spa later that nite, and found it packed with people.

A frequent biz traveller, I was delighted they had high speed, wireless internet access as well as complimentary airport transfer service.

But then again, $100 a night in San Diego, clean room, great view, close parking, walking on the beach, OK, I would definitely stay at Humphreys again.

Large clean rooms and very friendly staff.

The grounds were so lush and tropical, the pool was clean, hot tub was hot and the pool bar was great!

The beds were nice and comfy and everything was so clean.

Our room was really clean and up to date.
