The beauty of the location on the river, 5 minutes upstream from the Falls, beautiful, large rooms, with the best pillows I have ever slept on, exquisite meals and wines.
The location was stunning, right on the river with manicured lawns and gardens.
The owner's cottage permits you to dine just with your friends in a fantastically elegant location.
Beautiful location - well sited lodge in manicured gardens, the river flows quietly at the foot of the private lawn and this place is charming.
We also splurged and took the helicopter to and from Auckland airport, which was a real thrill.
The rooms were very spacious, the bathrooms were large and the bathtub was big enough for two people.
The bedrooms are huge and have a seperate dressing room, and the bathrooms are very luxurious.
The toilet stalls are so small, however, that you have to leave the door open for your knees The room does not have a television, radio, or stereo which was a disappointment since we travel with an iPod with our favorite music.
Staff were wonderful and the bed was heavenly.
Private nature of the suites - views onto landscaped garden in bedroom, a very warm welcome and the staff were very friendly.
He had a wonderful time, and enjoyed chatting to the chef as he ate dinner at the breakfast bar in the company of his babysitter, while we relaxed over cocktails and dinner.
One of the highlights was the food, great choices at breakfast and a five course dinner every night made lunch almost irrelevant, and being able to choose our dinner location was also fantastic.

The restaurant staff spoke broken English, could not pronounce the dishes we were being served (that is if they could even remember what they were serving), and were unbelievably timid around the guests.
For example, they noticed what kind of sweetener we put in our coffee and tea for breakfast -- then they made certain to bring us that particular sweetener every time.
Service was friendly and quick, although all the staff including the manager appeared a bit puzzled all the time - but in the.
If you are seeking warm and professional service from a staff that seems to genuinely care about you as an individual, you'll find it here in plenty.
Most of the staff are not from New Zealand, and although this made their local knowledge less than it may otherwise have been, the level of service was outstanding in every other aspect.

Lake Taupo and the town around it are a short drive if you have a car or a short ride (they're always willing to shuttle you from the lodge) if you don't.
