Hotel Villa Flamenca

Which brings me nicely on to another big plus about this hotel its location - a good choice of pubs and nightlife is within easy walking distance and we sampled a FAIR bit of it!

We booked the hotel because of its location, we did not really want the western end of Nerja, not the balcon area.

The location of the hotel was excellent with a 10 min walk to the Balcon De Europa and 5 mins to the beach, the hill to the beach is steep but you do get used to it in the end and it is not as bad as you might first think.

We love Nerja and will continue to visit, but we have managed to talk the in laws around to booking seperate flights and accommodation and getting hte bus from the airport!

I was really concered about the holiday I'd booked as it was a half board choice and we weren't allocated the Villa Flamenca until arrival at Malaga airport.

Our room was a double room overlooking the pool, we had a big balcony and the bathroom was of a decent size, however the rooms do get very hot as there was no air conditioning only a fan on the ceiling, it made going to the shower like a sauna.

The rooms were tiny with dingy bed linen and towels, the mattress and pillows were really grimy, the dressing table surface was bubbling up and the shabby curtains were hanging off the rail.

A large bathroom 10' x 10' with a huge corner bath and shower, bidet, toilet and vanity unit with cupboards and drawers for toiletries.

Our room was not massive, but it had two twin beds, a wardrobe, a bathroom, two bedside tables and a nice balcony.

Whilst the rooms can be hit and miss we had a really goodsized room on the second visit with a large bathroom towards the front of the hotel in the new annexe.

The restaurant was basic and fresh food was brought out regularly, we found thehouse wine was cheaper by the bottle in the bar than the restaurant.

Food was ok some of it a bit overcooked (Black bacon for breakfast), pool and bar area nice.

We would return each afternoon to use the pool and bar then out again to sample a different restaurant each night!

Breakfast was plentiful and so was the evening meal but I felt it to be basic and ate out 3 nights out of 7.

BREAKFAST AND DINNER: for me it looks more like student canteen not a restaurant.

Reception staff excellent especially the Manager.

The reception staff speak alot of English, so its very easy to get checked in.

Upon arrival the reception staff were friendly and check in was really quick.

Reception staff were polite, always helpful and spoke English fluently.

The pool area in the garden is a real oasis and the bar snacks very good and reasonable.

Beach at the bottom of the hill superb, Thomson holiday rep Tanya top class, very helpful, pool is very nice, and the two hotel cats give the place an extre edge.

The rooms were small and quite basic but were kept immaculatley clean by the wonderful staff at the hotel.

The staff are extremely discreet and very well mannered, informative and welcoming the rooms are spotlessly clean and kept that way by the lovely cleaning staff.

Stayed in the annexe ( which i had pre-booked ) where the room was clean & cool - not a particularly good view from the balcony as couldn't see past the palm trees but at least we didn't look onto back streets or rubbish bins.

The bathroom was clean but again very CRAMPED!

We stayed in a very good twin room which was clean and comfortable and which was cleaned very well every day.
