  The pool was great, and if you're single, ooh la la. We had a king cabana room -- it was THE best. Great bedding, fantastic plasma TV, all new everything. The staff was very attentive and the room service perfect. I think it's a perfect out of the way location.

• I stayed in the lowest tier room and it was quite large. The cable selection is extensive and included channels like HBO and Comedy Central. While I did not eat at any of the restaurants, the meeting was catered by the hotel and the food was very good -- much better than what I have had at meetings at some chain hotels.

  The gym was larger than your typical hotel gym with lots of cardio machines, free weights, etc.

  That being said, it was very clean and everyone on staff I encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was large but cinderblock walls leave me totally cold. The spa received some sort of award for "best new spa" or something along those lines but I can't imagine why. The facility is clean but small and doesn't have a whirlpool or sauna. The concierge tipped me off on one restaurant to avoid and the suggested Thai alternative on Main Street was great and within easy walking distance.

  My room had a large flat-screen TV and the bellman hooked up a CD/DVD component (available upon request). I also loved the Red Flower amenities in the bathroom. OK, so I did see a couple of crawling critters in my room. I simply ushered them out of my room and continued with the fun!

  I guess it just goes with the being in such a hot climate and having a room on the ground floor.

  The place has this cool 40's vibe, the grounds of the hotel are immaculate, our room was spotless, the bed comfy, the pool was warm and fun with plenty of chairs and attractive people, and our lunch at Oh Pool Bar was awesome. I also recieved the Lomi Lomi message at the spa and it was out of this world and well worth the money. Scottsdale is clean and had great galleries, beautiful people, fabulous restaurants and funky bars (we really like Cowboy Ciao and the bar, Drift).

  The property is pet-friendly and hottie friendly. The rooms are spacious and have such nice little tricks that many cooler hotels are employing like colored mood lighting in the bathrooms and the standard plasmas. I had a room on the first floor next to the pool and hottub. The spa was great but they lacked a bit in the customer service (failed to confirm with me, but whatever, I knew I had to be there).

  My husband and I had a weekend getaway at the hotel and even though it may not seem so exciting from its outer appearance (like it was made during the Flinstone ages), the rooms itself completely contradicted that. Upon checking in, we were greeted by John at the front desk - he was extremely friendly and quite knowledgeable about the hotel and the surrounding areas. He checked us in promptly and we were off to our room. The rooms were spacious and very retro - large beds, extremely fluffy pillows (bring your own pillow if you're not into the super soft feather pillows - you get 4 of them), flat screen plasma tv's, hip bathrooms with a seperate bathtub and shower. Separating the bathroom from the rest of the room were these thick frosted glass walls that when you turn the switch a "mood light" of blue turns on making the room look really great at night. The downside to the tv's were the channels - why 5 ESPN channels and NO movie channels? I'm not sure what service plan they have there but the tv selection definitely needs to be changed. We ordered room service the 1st night we were there and a guy named Rico answered and also brought our food.

  We all opted to get the poolside cabana rooms. The rooms themselves were quite nice with a very retro feel. The bed had awesome high thread count linens - loved that! I highly recommend the 90 minute hamman body treatment / massage as well as the 90 minute true facial.

  I believe this applies to all of the rooms). Our pool cabana room was cleverly laid-out to maximize use of the space, and had all of the amenities you'd expect from an upscale resort hotel -- except no bathrobes (but the terrific bath products, and fabulous bathroom, made up for this). But most importantly, we were able to bring our dogs (yes, dogs, plural, and large (but well-behaved) dogs at that), and the Hotel didn't blink an eye -- a ribbon-tied box of gourmet dog treats, scented poop-bags, and a dog bed were waiting for us on arrival.

  I wasn't expecting much, but the service was great (everyone was very friendly, hospitable, and helpful); the accomodations were very posh, considering the affordale price, and the food at their restaurant was delicious.
