Hotel Uyan is one of three that competes as best new midrange addition to the city’s landscape. Like the others, it offers nice, comfortable rooms and good service. The décor leans towards the Ottoman style, but it is not overdone. It is cosy and comfortable. There is a lovely view from the rooftop terrace.

The Hotel Uyan was built in the early 1930s and lies in the heart of Sultanahmet open-air museum.

The hotel features original, white painted, wooden doors and wrought iron balconies. The hotel houses 16 standard rooms and 10 deluxe suites. All rooms are non smoking. Wi-Fi is free of charge throughout the hotel. The Istanbul Ataturk International Airport lies within a 30-minute drive to the hotel.

Getting there

Istanbul Atatürk Airport (IST) offers most of the flights and lies just 30-minute drive to the hotel. From the airport one can take either a taxi or the express bus. Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) is the airport in the Anatolian side of the city that serves charter European flights. The coach service connects the city with Bulgaria, Greece, Republic of Macedonia and Romania. The international trains that operate across Europe arrive at the station in Sirkeci, located nearby the Sultanahmet.

Getting around

Istanbul's public system is quite complicated due to lack of maps. There are private blue-green buses and the city-owned buses of different colors run by the İETT. Taxis are cheap and comfortable. Sometimes, drivers may refuse to start the meter trying to agree on the price. Taxis that wait near a bus station are usually a tourist trap charging much more than average.

Very convenient especially touring the tourist area of Istanbul and excellent stay. Friendly and cooperative staff, large comfortable room. I liked the breakfast, best possible choice for us.

Noisy on the street and itnwas not worth the money. Boiled eggs everyday sad.
