The location is also great: 10-minute walk from Thamel.
A perfect location, the place is kind of old and the lobby is also very stylish.
The location good for all the tourity areas and the Shanker hotel has a old world charm about.
I landed at Khatmandu Airport, declared as the most dangerous International Airport on 26th of July, 2005.
The only tourist market in the city "Thamel" is on a 10 minutes walk from the hotel, so dont ask a taxi man or he will charge you 50-60 bucks or even more.
One of the rooms I used was very basic in the bathroom and beeded some modernisation, but the second room was more modern.
Rooms were clean and well decorated (same old style), local calls were free, staff behavior was good but room service and food quality was not up to mark.
Lovely poolside area, our Deluxe 1bedroom suite was a great welcome after a 10 day trek.
Service very friendly, comfortable bed and bREAKFAST: simple.
The rooms have seen better days and the bathrooms are basic and old - but hey it's an old building and the general ambience of the place makes up for that.
Savour your breakfast in the lavishly appointed Cosy Kailash restaurant boasting colorful friezes, or sit amidst the fragrant gardens with your meal brought to you.
The restaurant serves a wide array of dishes, excelent for families.
Local calls were free and breakfast was good.
The breakfast is good, refreshing beverages served poolside will keep you cool and the garden is large.
If the trip to Thamel is too demanding, you can indulge yourself in the hotels two gift shops where you will find everything from gifts to post cards to batteries.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly, front desk were always excellent, the rooms were always well cleaned.
One of my requirements for cheap hotels is: I have to be able to touch the walls, the reception staff could not be more helpful and professional, the beds are comfortable.

Laps in the pool with ease the heat, and refreshing beverages served poolside will keep you cool.
The building is very impressive as you arrive with lovely gardens and a small pool.
We were lucky enough to swim the pool which was very clean and is situated in their expansive gardens which is a nice haven from the noise outside.
A $30 dollar hotel room in Hanoi is CLEAN and staff is really good and courteous.
