  The table was not cleaned, nor had the room been vaccumed when we returned in the evening. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking was great, and the hotel is convenient to the local pharmacy, Main Street and a great little pub (The Phoenix).

  Our sleeping room was ok - not scrupulously clean, but not horrible. Also, smoke detectors on our guest room floor were covered with plastic - I presume to keep dust out during renovation - but doesn't that also prevent them from reacting to smoke?

  Upon check-in we were upgraded to the nicest room in the hotel. The room was beautiful The living room had a flat screen TV with 12 foot ceilings. But the furnishings were beautiful and the quilt on the bed was gorgeous. We used the Max bus service to go to the Plaza.

  Their front desk staff was courteous, helpful and, extremely honest. My dad reported that he signed some traveler's checks, left the front desk & was called a few minutes later to tell him he left one too many! I think we paid around $99 a night for a lovely room.

  Things may not sparkle the way they do in the chain hotels, but the charm and history of this building, along with the dedication of the staff make up for any visual shortcomings. We had a beautiful real suite with a full size sitting area separate from the bedroom. The bathroom was spotless and the clawfoot tub was greatly enjoyed. When was the last time a hotel sent up freshly made cookies and ice to your room for no reason? There was also free wireless internet, full cable, and a newspaper at your door in the morning.

  The room though was magnificent and the breakfast was unbelievable and included. When was the last time you had lobster bisque soup and a huge lamb chop with your eggs in a sit down breakfast for three. Yes, the building probably needs to be torn down, but the rooms were so splendid and the whole venue so historical that I hope the rennovations continue instead. The price was certainly reasonable considering the free parking and incredible breakfast.

  The dirty vinyl tile was peeling up from the swollen water damaged floor, the romantic claw foot tub was propped up on dirty wooden blocks, and the sink was atrocious. The waiter was very attentive and very professional. The non-meat portions of the meal were very good, but all of the meat was absolutely dessicated. Our car had a nice fresh crease down the side, likely a parting gift from one of the drunks at the rowdy bar that shares a parking lot with the hotel.

  One enters into a dirty corridor leading to an elevator and a staircase. An unmarked wooden door leads to the lobby, where one must pass an array of tables with random junk on them before coming to the front desk. After checking in and being given our room key (we must admit that the staff is very friendly), we were directed back out the unmarked wooden door, to the elevator (a horrid, tiny, dirty, low budget affair), and to our room. The room was just as foul as the corridors, with dirty carpet, cracked and water stained walls, exposed wiring, and dirty furniture. We felt absolutely soiled just from being in the room. If you decide to tempt fate and stay at this establishment, be sure to specify right on the meal order form that you want the meat rare or medium rare or you will be very disappointed.

  Our room was a newly decorated victorian room with a wonderful view of the city and river.

  I felt bad that a lot of food went to waste, but the selection was delectable. Absolutely loved all the stained glass and the old mirror in the dining area!

  We stayed at the Hotel Savoy Bed and Breakfast for one night in July of 2006. We had booked the least expensive room as we are budget minded. Without even asking, we were upgraded to a wonderful 2 room suite. A huge comfy bed, claw foot tub, restored antique furniture, and a decorative fireplace were among the niceties of the suite. The hotel staff were helpful and courteous.

  After reading a few trip reviews, we made sure to request a renovated room when making our reservation. The staff was very accommodating and nice to us both on the phone and while we were there. The hotel is old, and we asked if we could poke around the rooms to see the difference between the old rooms and the remodeled ones. You’ll definitely want a remodeled room. The room is small, but well-lit, with high windows. The bed was a beautiful wooden four-poster, with a stained glass façade. The hotel also had high-speed internet routers, which made it possible for us to work on the laptop while we were there. The small bathroom was a delight, with an antique claw-footed tub and pretty little lamps.

  When we walked in the lobby, there were buckets catching dripping rain. We checked in and double checked to ensure we had a non-smoking room as I have severe asthma and allergies which are triggered by smoke. The gentleman at the front desk began a long spiel about how this hotel had been around since the turn of the century and you could never eliminate all the odors. We went on up to our room on the top floor. The room was roomy with beautiful woodwork, sitting area, fireplace. As we were getting ready to go out that first evening, we discovered a leak in the ceiling in our bathroom. There were also buckets that were overflowing outside the elevator where there was a large leak. We stopped by the front desk to report the overflowing bucket and leak in our room.

  We did not get everything we ordered, some of the food was cold, and it was just plain bad. The gentleman at the front desk was very rude.
