Hotel Saint Francis Santa Fe - 圣菲

Francis has a great location close to everything for the tourist and attentive places to stay near the action in Santa Fe.

First the good: The location is great and hotel has a parking lot that's cheap for Santa Fe.

The location is great and right uin the heart of old Santa Fe.

The bellguy actually went out and started my car and brushed off the snow (there was about a foot) and helped me figure out the safest way out of the very icy city.

Constant guest traffic makes the stations a less-than-ideal place to work for long periods of time.

The bathrooms are a little odd -- the sink is in the bedroom and the shower/tub and toilet are in a separate room.

Room was super small; bed was very comfortable, bathroom was situated in such a way that you had to sit side-saddle on the toilet!

Historic hotel maintains historic details in halls, rooms and bathroom, so it is very cosy and cramped compared to places where you can spread out on the extra queen-size bed.

The pedestal sink (pretty marble), was in the room not the bathroom and about a foot away from the bed.

Negatives - The room we had was small and you had to sit on the toilet sideways to use it because the bathroom was so poorly designed.

The beds are comfortable, the bar crowd likes to hang out in the outdoor seating can be noisy and the La Fonda's domed restaurant is nice you eat at an off hour.

For the most part our stay of two days was just that, beginning with Viola, the morning hostess for breakfast and lunch in the restaurant to the Concierge who had a pleasant "Good Morning" every time you passed her desk.

The food in the restaurant was very good, the waiter was doing his best to be attentive and the employees were super.

We did not try the hotel restaurant, but it is beautifully romantic and judging from the large number of guests in the restaurant, I'd say the food is most likely a winner as well.

At the hotel next door, Inn of the Governors, they have a bar with cheap bar food (great green chile chicken chowder for $3) and relatively cheap drinks.

The wait staff in the restaurants, the reception staff and the concierge (a Santa Fe institution named Inger) were all wonderful.

I found the staff to be highly variable -front desk staff were not very friendly and customer service oriented, but the maintenance staff and doorman were very friendly and helpful.

Location near the plaza is very good in such as nice walkable town, the concierge service at this hotel is fabulous and francis has a lovely lobby to say one really great thing.

Gracious lobby (and an old-fashioned check-in desk) and easy to manage staircase (never did use the elevator).

The location was perfect for shopping, had a very pleasant atmosphere and calm spa-like music was heard overhead throughout the lobby.

In the centre of old Santa Fe within a couple of minutes walk of the old square, the hotel is very central and the lobby is calm and welcoming.

Each floor has a workstation where you can plug in directly for high-speed Internet and print documents.

Obviously if you';re looking for a large room and typical chain-hotel amenities, it's pretty clear from these reviews that you'd be happier elsewhere, and I agree.

Actually the most recent iteration of the historic De Vargas Hotel, the staff were helpful and friendly, the room was clean.

The bathroom wasn’t as clean as I would have liked and restaurants – try El Meson for great tapas.
