Tip: Our travel agent booked directly with the hotel and cobbled together several packages which helped lower the price and provided certain amenities--airport transfers,use of fitness center, a bottle of Cava and other goodies.

Still one of Madrid's great hotels despite the fact not much money seems to be going on improving its facilities, rooms included.

Really, overall this hotel would have been good but for the price we paid we would expect EVERYTHING to be amazing but it wasn't.

My biggest compliment I could pay the hotel is the sheer elegance of the building and its furnishings.

The location is quieter than that of the Westin Palace; the hotel is located just across the street from the Prado.

Service was fine, but a last disapppointed comment must be added regarding the location - unless you are there only to visit the local art museum or the stock exchange, the hotel is located somewhat out of the way.

And for me the Hotel's location in proximity to Madrid's three greatest museums was a crucial attraction, as they were the principal goal of my trip.

However, its bad air quality (being too far from the ocean and lakes), noisy and overcrowded weekends, serious lacking in taxis, makes it a not-so-attractive place for a visit.

To make matters worse, we got pick-pocketed in a subway but the thief got away with nothing.

The rooms whilst old fashioned in decor are beautifully kept with delicious sheets and nice goodies in the bathrooms (if I could find one thing to complain about it would be that the bathroom of our suite was tiny but we managed!

The room was spotless and decorated with that old-fashion charm (great linen sheets, comfortable bed, great wallpaper.

The room was immaculately decorated - curtain with drapes, nice carpets, silk walls, huge bathroom and Bvlgari bath products.

I would also recomend eating at the Goya restaurant, I had breakfast each day and couple of dinners, or have a drink in the bar or afternoon tea in the beautiful lobby.

Anxious to get my first caffeine fix, I went to the breakfast restaurant and was seated in a very pleasant terrace area, looking forward to catching up on proper food.

As for other features of today's hotels, this has a business centre, but when you realize it consists of one PC stuck in a corner, you realize there is upgrading needed here too to bring this hotel properly into the 21st century.

The room was extremely clean and comfortable with every detail carefully thought out.

Lovely room, an amazing dining terrace and clean sheets every day.

My room was superb - very clean, spacious with luxurious featurs.

A foyer led to a medium sized room furnished in tasteful French antiques, including a crystal chandelier and an antique rug.

Every afternoon, the staff surprised us with fresh fruit in our room, which was a great welcome after a long day of sightseeing.

The location is great, that is the best place to stay in the royal Madrid and prices are very high. Lobby ambience is trully beautiful, the staff is very good and professional, the public rooms are perfect you seek the nostalgia of times past. The lovely bar downstairs is a nice and yes the towels are large and warm. The buffet breakfast is excellent.

The location is amazing, the place is beautiful and the concierge staff is very good. Rooms are spacious and continental breakfast is being charged at EUR 30. The garden is lovely in the Madrid sunshine.

The interiors are quite old fashioned and old, pink wardrobes an excellent choice.

Location is great, i would reccommend to stay at THE RITZ is a amazing EXPERIANCE and the staff is exceptionally good. Rooms are spacious, the Ritz has a beautiful garden to have a a drink.

Near all the most important museums and excellent location. Hotel staff were fabulous and price was fine. Service at dinner were as delightful as the decoration and reception was welcoming.

My room was surprisingly small and our most expensive meal in Madrid was our breakfast at the Ritz. Concierge was not good.

An engineer was found and he replaced the broken part, but for what you pay in this hotel, this is not a part of the routine you expect.
