Hotel Praia Mar Carcavelos

Good location to visit Lisbon and Cascais( 15 minutes driving).

The location is ok, but next time we will be staying in Cascais which is at 10 minutes drive from there and where all the action seems to be happening.

We stayed here for 2 nights over easter and we were specifically wanting a beach location.

We got a taxi to sinta for 15 euros one way - so taxis are cheap too.

Travel ti the race track was amazingly cheap (10 euros by taxi) and there were taxis available right outside the hotel.

We complained that we were unhappy with the room & wud lke a bigger one as we were 3 in the room & it wasnt a proper triple- there was an extra bed sqeezed into a twin room & wasnt any space for suitcases or to walk.

However the receptionist said all the rooms are the same size & we could only move to a suite which was more expensive so we stayed in the room.

The room was small with a clearance of two feet from the bed end to the wall.

Breakfast was included and the options were wide and there were lots of delicious breads and pastry.

The panoramic restaurant on the 8 th floor has as well a beautifull sea views over the Carcavelos beach.

Even if you're staying at a hotel nearby I would recommend a visit to this restaurant for a sunset dinner.

I never think much of continental breakfast anyway so i'm probably not the best judge of that.

The hotel has some great restaurants quite close by if you bother to look for them (which I recomend you do), and some great little beach side bars.

Friendly staff at the reception and at the restaurant.

Liked the location, this place was allright-- the decor was kind of weird and reception staff was always attentive and friendly.

Their front desk staff stands there all day with nothing to do, and yet when you ask them for help (a restaurant, a trip into town, a suggestion of travel info, etc) they literallly don't do anything.

For a four star it should have a mini bar in the room & table & chairs on the balcony,a gym & sauna & has none of these.

The pool is big but old with paint wearing off the floor of pool which doesnt look good from the balcony is not what one would expect from a 4 star.

The internet access was free and they had wireless connections so you could use your own computer or one of their two PCs 24/7.

Bathrooms were clean, the dinner was excellent.

Furthermore bathrooms were clean and the dinner was excellent.

Although the room itself was clean, everything in it was extremely dated.
