A police report was filed but no charges pressed because it could not be proven that the maid had taken the money (although, a scan of the hotel locks showed that she had been in both of our rooms that morning!
It is a shame that they put all that money into restoring the hotel but forgot somewhere along the way how to take care of their customers!
Wonderful service in a great downtown location and so I'm guessing that's the best rate the hotel offers.
The location is great as you are only about 3 blocks from the new Power and Light district in downtown Kansas City.
Perfect location for the Power and Light District.
Don't forget to visit the remarkable downtown library two block north and the Union Station a short cab ride south.
The hotel is a twenty minute walk from Union Station and Crown Mall.
The Hotel also does not have rooms with double beds, but you can upgrade to a King size bed with a Queen pull out for $15.
The rooms were very comfortable with the bed being as soft as the beds at the Westin.
My one complaint of the room was the tv screen facing perpendicular to the bed.
We booked an Executive Room with King sized bed for only $114.
However, our room, though large with a sofa-bed, was dusty as we have come to expect from Hotel Phillips.
We attempted to eat in their restaurant that evening and arrived about a half hour before their closing time (which we did not realize how early they closed as it was our plan to shop in the Plaza before eating at their restaurant.
Breakfast the next morning in the same restaurant was good as well.

We did not explore all of the amenities that were offered by the hotel, such as the workout center, But we did have breakfast in the bar in the east wing of the hotel.
The dinner restaurant is closed on Sundays, and the "full-service" restaurant is actually a cigar bar, with no real non-smoking area.
The staff at the front desk are professional, but not friendly, and the valet service (your only parking option) is slow.
The staff/front desk/doormen were wonderful and very nice; they answered every question we had.
Very good service, the check-in staff was very nice and the room was very clean.
The staff was very courteous, except for a receptionist on the night shift.
There is no pool or hottub at the hotel, only a fitness center.
There really are no leisure facilities, no spa, nothing but rooms and a couple of restaurants and a very cigar-smelly lobby.
The building itself is a beautiful example of art deco architecture and the lobby is awesome.
The Hotel Phillips is upscale and charming, the rooms are always clean and fresh.
