Orrington Hotel Evanston

The location is great for visiting Northwestern, hotel is well situated for Evanston shops and the bed is very comfortable.

You can't beat the location -- very close to downtown Evanston and Northwestern University.

Finally, if you want to go downtown, cabs are easily accessable, but I would recommend the El or the Metro, both a short walk from the hotel.

The El and Metra are a little further afield but still accessible on foot.

The location is excellent, the room decor is possibly the hotel's best asset and nice robes set out for you by staff before bed.

Our room was pleasant and quiet (even with the window open) and the bed very comfortable with a lot of pillows of different density, so we slept like angels on both nights.

Our room was too small for the king sized bed in it and there wasn't enough room to accommodate our 2 suit cases and a garment bag.

I got my room for a wickedly low price on Booked.net, and for that I should be grateful for the blissfully comfortable bed ,triple sheeted with high-count cotton, the very good shower head and the fluffy towels.

The bed was very comfortable and room quiet.

Also, it is in a great area for walking to other shops/restaurants, but they have a casual cafe and a fine-dining restaurant onsite, so you don't really have to go out.

The restaurant/bar facilities so nicely photographed on the website devolve to a coffee shop and an empty lobby.

They have done a nice job modernizeing the mechanicals, preserving some of the historical features while adding some fun restaurants and a bar.

The hotel restaurant had a good breakfast menu and staff were very friendly and professional.

The on site cafe and bar were also really great - and our in-room breakfast was delish - and a decent price for room service also.

There was no concierge service all weekend and when we tried to get advice from the front desk -who said they were covering for the concierge - they had no information except about restaurants in the hotel.

The staff was very helpful and polite, customer service was a 9, I'd say.

The staff were surly and not helpful, especially the reception desk and the reservations staff.

One of the elevators is being serviced but we never had to wait very long for an elevator which was surprising.

The Hotel Orrington's architects were clever enough to install only 2 main elevators in the lobby, which makes waiting for one an experience equivalent to the DMV or SS office.

My travel agent requested a room away from the elevator -- my standard request -- and I was instead placed right next to the service elevator and guest elevators and told they could not move me.

The other major problem we had with the room was the complete lack of Internet access - wired or wireless, free or fee based.

Clean rooms, the Globe Cafe has good food morning.

The appearance of the hotel is nice as you drive up and rooms are clean.

The rooms are nice, clean and contemprary with nice artwork throughout the hotel.

The room was small, but very neat and clean.

As other reviewers have said, the bathroom was small but it was very clean.
