Hotel Il Faro Sorrento - 索伦托

The location is excellent for both ambience and access to day trips to Capri and elsewhere as it is located right in the Marina Picola harbor.

The location of this hotel is right smack in the Sorrento port-a great location if you are planning ferries to Capri, Amalfi, or Positano.

However, overall the hotel is clean (except for the bathroom ceiling), staff are very helpful (the owner, Gino, is especially nice) and the location is great.

If you aren't open to walking uphill to the city center stay elsewhere or plan on hiring a taxi for each trip.

A bit of a trek to the main roads of Sorrento, its take the really steep steps up or walk the steep winding road, of course you could always wait for the bus or call a cab which takes all of two minutes to get you up the hill.

The air conditioning was hanging off the wall, Non of the funiture in the room matches we had a red camp bed and two leather beds, Random?

The room was smallish but the bed comfortable and the bathroom well appointed.

The rooms are pretty small-we had trouble navigating around the bed with the luggage on the floor.

The room was on the top floor and had a small single bed and little else in the room.

But, the room was extremely small with a tiny bathroom (I had to step over the bidet to reach the toilet).

We really liked the Bar Ruccio for breakfast, dinner (old time-y frankfurters), and gelato.

There was a restaurant right outside the hotel that looked great but we did not eat there because we wanted to explore the town.

The restaurant owned by the hotel ,The Vela Bianca, serves some of the best food we came across after spending 15 days in Italy.

The adjacent restaurant Vela Bianca is also wonderful and was our favorite of the entire trip due to the attention and courtesy of the staff as well as the great food.

There was cheaper food available from a cafe 2 doors up although not restaurant quality.

But the next morning, the front desk staff was extremely helpful, answered all the questions we had and provide everything we requested.

Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful.

We stumbled on it accidentally this summer through a reservation service.

Great breakfast service, with a varierty of foods and friendly waitress.

There was parking available if you have a car.

Also, while an elevator was in the hotel, it was very slow to arrive on whatever floor we were on, that is if it was ever free.

Firstly we were advised by our travel agent that we would have no parking costs.

The room was clean, large, and had an incredible view of Mount Vesuvius, just on the other side of the Gulf.

The room was slightly on the small side and had no view, but this was ok for us, it was clean and adequate.

Our room was ok and clean though the pillows and bedspread had seen better days.
