Hotel Hiberia - Rome

The ONLY good thing I can say about Hotel Hiberia is that the location is very practical and close to the Collosseum.

The best that can be said is that the location is close to the Roman Forum and Collosseum, as well as good restaurants.

Hotel location is excellent, near the fountain of Trevi & Roman Forum.

Rome tips- dont use taxis they rip you off and public buses and metro are great and cheap.

Taxis in rome are only supoosed to stop on the taxi ranks, you may get approached by people asking if you want a taxi.

We stayed 5 nights in the junior suite, 2 bedrooms, an ante-room, a bathroom and a spacious terrace.

The room air con/heating was fine and the Versace tiled bathroom with shower/bath was very clean.

Large and very comfortable bed and the room and bedding were spotless - there was an extra bed in the room as I think it is normally a family room - it was handy to put things on!

The large double bed was extremely comfortable and there was adequate space to walk round the room, get changed etc etc.

The room was incredibly small and there was no bath tub.

Didn't get a chance to experience breakfast but we did get a free drink in the bar when we arrived ts they weren't quite ready for us to check in.

Although there is no restaurant there is a little bar which serves excellent coffee after a late night out on the town.

One of the charms of the hotel is that it is not a modern hotel in the centre of the city but in an area that has not been overdeveloped and has plenty of small restaurants, shops and cafes nearby.

There is a large selection of things to eat for breakfast.

If you are looking for a hotel with a great bar, and extensive resturant to eat-in in the evening this is not the hotel for you, but then if your looking for these things your missing out on a big part of Rome.

The staff were courteous and helpful especially the guy who works at the front desk during the night shift.

After arriving at the hotel, I was greeted at the front desk and the staff could NOT have been more accomodating.

The front desk staff was very friendly and showed me a room that was available immediately (7am).

Dont be fooled by the reception area, well its not as tiny as another reviewer made it sound & at least its bright and the staff seem very kind and helpful.

The lobby is normal enough (pay internet on one machine) but then you go through automatic doors down two stairs, then up four to go to a rattle trap lift.

Any review of this hotel without a mention of the lift would be incomplete, it is different, it is in perfect working order, but may end up in a museum quite soon.

The lift is an old fashioned caged one which I found really charming - we had no problems with its operation.

The bathroom was very clean and had a jacuzzi shower.

Rooms are clean-our only problem was a jaccuzzi that did not work properly.

The rooms are very clean and the staff is very helpfull.

Rooms very comfortable and also very clean.

The room, although clean & tidy, was very small for us (family of 4) however most of the time we were out exploring.
