Hotel Hermitage Gantois

The location is great and otherwise we find the hotel would on the expensive side even.

The Hotel was in a convenient location within walking distance of the Eurostar station and the main attractions and restaurants in Lille.

Great location and even a small hospital museum.

TGV is far by foot and to close for taxi drivers.

L' Hermitage Gantois is ideally located for exploring Lille on foot, being sited a short, easy 5 minute walk from the central square.

The cell-like (in size) bedroom, the spartan, sorry, minimalist, decor (especially the shower room - big enough to house a bath so why didn't they?

The beds were large and the rooms spacious with lovely bathrooms.

The superior bedroom was large and the bed very comfortable.

We had a "privilige room" and it was high-ceilinged and spacious with a wonderful grey slate bathroom and all the goodies you would expect of a decent hotel - robes, slippers and smellies.

The rooms are not only well designed but comfortable and the bathroom felt ever so luxurious.

Very nice restaurant and bar as well as a very good breakfast.

The bar staff were great and the food in the restaurant was absolutely superb.

We ate at the restaurant, despite the disingenuous comment on arrival that all restaurants in Lille are closed on Sunday night.

The main touristy areas of Lille with its restaurants and bars was just too far to consider going back out to for dinner so we chose to eat in the main restaurant in the hotel…and retrospectively what a wise move that was!

The only weak point is the restaurant which, in common with so many hotel restaurants, tries to carry off things which it can't manage - and there are so many other good places to eat in Lille that it's better to head out.

Competent concierge staff are busy and the rooms are very pleasant indeed.

Bedding were good quality, the staff were very helpful especially Sarah on reception and our first room was very disappointing.

Moreover the decoration was a good blend of traditional and modern, staff were excellent, particularly the female receptionist was exceptionally helpful and professional.

The hotel is fabulous, the building itself is beautiful as is an old hospice conversion even includes the former chapel and the helpful staff will feed the meter for you.

I expect a 4 star to have some sort of pool/relaxation area didn't, luxury hotel in an old hospital annex chapel and the building itself is beautiful in parts.

We paid 15 Euros (rate per night) for the hotel's secure parking (a few hundred yards drive from the hotel) and were glad we did.

There are parking bays outside the hotel but they are paid parking and although being in a residential area, you could park on the street, we did not want to risk it.

The hotel was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and our room was exactly as many others have describedcomfortable and clean.

A great atmosphere, friendly staff and the room was quiet and clean.

The rooms had lots of character and everywhere was clean and smart.

The rooms are of a good standard and clean.
