If you want a hotel with character in a good location in DC at these prices, then this is should be your choice.
Regardless just like many other hotels the food is over severly overpriced.
It's fun, funky, and well-located, with stylish rooms and creative culinary options -- a much-needed alternative to the standard conservative, boring and overpriced DC hotel.
Neighborhood nearby has a few nice restaurants and the central location.
The location is fantastic - right next to Whole Foods (yum!
The staff is great, house keeping is top notch, and the location is perfect easy getting around even without a car.
It's a short walk to the subway station and of course there are plenty of cabs in the area.
You'll have no problem finding a cab, or walking to the metro, or even to the monuments.
The bunk bed room is perfect for a family - separate king sized bed for the parents and bunk beds for the kids - each with own TV.
The room was large and also had a couch, flat screen TV on a swivel stand (so it could be viewed from the bed or the couch), a desk and chair, a coffee maker with complimentary coffee, and a very clean (although small) bathroom.
3 rooms, great bed, great TV's and sound.
The entertainment center was on a pole allowing the guest to swivel the TV to watch it from the loveseat in the room, or from the bed.
I did find the bed to be quite comfortable but wished that they had taken the concept of the room a little bit further by investing more in better quality curtains, furniture etc, but in the same mid-century style.
The bar was really good, and breakfast was OK (shame they don't include it in the rate).
Ate at the Latin place, great happy hour prices and terrific mojitos and bar menu of "tapas" like food.
I was particularly happy to find a nice Whole Foods supermarket right around the block, where I ate breakfast every day and bought nice bag lunches to take on my trips.
However, food in the hotel is very limited with a lounge serving only a continental breakfast and dinner.
Nearby is a convenience store, a drugstore and a lovely Whole Foods grocery, not to mention various coffee shops, bars and casual restaurants.
All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpfull although I found the concierge service a bit lacking.
The staff was nice, but the service was spotty (they ran out of coffee cups one day, and the front desk could not change a $100 bill).
The energy of the hotel staff is upbeat, ready to assist and positive & the service - nothing less then super!
The only drawback I can think of is the lifts (elevators) are in short supply, so you do have t wait a while at times, but that’s hardly a problem!
I enjoyed the nightly 'Bubbly Hour', where they serve wine/champagne/beer in the lobby each evening from 5-6pm.
We actually found parking right out front on the street.
In addition, the hotel has free wireless throughout.
The room was very clean and all hotel staff were very friendly.
The bathroom is tiny, but it was clean and that's all that matters to me.
We had a bunk room and it was clean, comfortable and roomy!
The staff was very professional and accommodating, the rooms were extremely comfortable and clean, and the public areas of the hotel were attractive.
Modern decor, the staff was so friendly and helpful, the room was very clean.
