Been to SF many times, downtown hotels are usually long on price and short on value.
At the originally promised room rate, this might be a good-enough lower end value-for-money hotel within walking distance of the Embarcadero.
The hotel has a boutique feel without the boutique price, and the rooms are small but well-appointed.
That being said, if you don't have a car to park, The Griffon is an okay hotel, but I think you could do better for the money.
The location is great because you are close to some great restaurants like Ozumo, Boulevard, and the Ferry Building.
The location was perfect and good public transportation was very nearby as was a great selection of dining options.
The location is excellent and the hotel is very charming.
Close to cable cars, street cars, busses and they have town cars to take you to meetings or the airport.
The ferry building is around the corner and the bus lines that run up Market to Union Square are within a couple of blocks.
