But if the hotel doesn't deliver the view, the value isn't there for the price.
We can pay half-price and have a very similar hotel experience in Victoria.
I would not pay full price for this hotel under these conditions.
Although the rooms are nice, we've had many other hotels during our trip through British Columbia which were as nice for not even one third of the price.
Took my wife here for our anniversary, great location next to harbor and close to downtown.
The hotel has a great location next to the parliment building and a block from the clipper ship I took to Seattle.
This is a very nice 3-star hotel that aspires to a 4th star because of its location and harbour views.
The Grand Pacific hotel was an easy half a block walk from the Clipper terminal, so we did not need to wait in the taxi line.
PS: Our Chevy Tahoe was too tall for the hotel underground parking.
Deluxe room with one bed or two beds with views of the Inner or Outer Harbour from your private balcony.
We booked a small suite so the children stayed on the sofa bed and we stayed in the next room.
Were pleasantly upgraded to a luxury suite that had 3 balconies, a king canopy bed,dining room /living room, and hardwood floors.
My room (though I didn't spend much time in it - there was so much to explore) was very large, with a king-size bed, a sofa and easy chair - and a little balcony to watch the world go by or just let in the fresh air.
I found the room was small (it had two queen size beds) and a small bathroom and balcony.
I found the bar and restaurant downstairs unnecessarily expensive-ate their once, went somewhere else.
The view of the Victoria was beautiful in all directions and breakfast in the hotel restaurant was also excellent.

The restaurant serves great breakfasts whether having buffet or choosing off the menu.
I didn't try the hotel's restaurant or bar, as they seemed over-priced.
The staff were very helpful from the reception to restaurant and the bell boys, concierge etc were always ready with a smile & a joke.
Starting with the welcome from a top-hatted valet, then the friendly front desk staff, and including the bellhop and the girls from room service, everyone at the hotel is extremely helpful and pleasant.
The swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi in their basement level gym were so wonderful and relaxing after a long day of walking around the city.
The hotel has excellent facilities, including a very large indoor pool and fitness centre.
The service is excellent, the pool is a nice size and the gym is welll-equipped.
One nice thing was the complimentary wired Internet access and safe where I stored my laptop when we were out for the day.
The one complaint that I do have is with the complimentary high-speed internet access.
Plenty of room for play and for laps and very clean.
Also the rooms were clean, for that price we had a huge breakfast and the spa was great.
The staff is polite, the room is comfortable and clean, the facilities are fantastic - the jacuzzi was full was probably us - sorry.
Our King room was comfortable, clean and fairly well appointed.
I thought the service was outstanding, room was extremely clean and the view was amazing.
