This hotel is situated in an ideal location in the city of Grindelwald and the reception staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

First off, the location of the hotel is fantastic.

Because I ski a lot, I was also very happy with the convenience of the location, with the hotel being only 4 minutes walk from the 'First' lifts.

For hardcore skiers, the hotel is within walking distance to a major ski run (First) and next to a bus stop for the rest of the valley.

Even in winter, the room was quite hot(no individual temp controls in rooms -- you are expected to open your windows/balcony doors).

The rooms were clean and the bathrooms large with excellent hot water and shower pressure.

The rooms we had were in the top of the building, so showering "under the eaves" was an interesting activity, since the tub was located in this area.

Rooms share a bathroom although they are remodeling to change that aspect.

The furniture, window treatments and bathroom were all dated and old.

Great view, clean, agree with what has been said about the restaurant - very nice, including good breakfast.

A warm welcome in the bar which has a separate games area with pool table, darts, and a selection of board games to entertain before or after heading out to one of the many restaurants in the village.

When we booked we were told that the bar was open but the restaurant closed for refurbishment this year.

The restaurant is closed at the moment but breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

The restaurants, and main shops including ski hire are all within a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Location good for some of the better restaurants, the place feels traditional compared to the superfast French ski resorts and the reception staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Again the service was most pleasant, the managers were unbelievably sweet and a typical German continental breakfast was served along.

The bus to the ski lift stops right outside the front of the hotel and there are scenic blue and red runs so you can ski back to within 100 yrds of the hotel at the end of the day.

It is easy to get around without a car but saw that the hotel has plenty of parking.

Just steps away from the lift up to First (the best of the slopes) and the endpoint of the run into Grindelwald central a skier couldn't ask for more convenience.

Staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and the breakfast was completely adequate.

It was a breath of fresh air from some of the rather smallish European hotel rooms we are becoming accustomed to.
