  Every offer in the hotel is excellent from the smile and welcome to the standard of the food. The beds were luxurious and the hotel facilities were very relaxing especially after a day's shopping in Moema. Thanks to all the staff, especially Mr Leo.

  I stayed there for 5 days and believe me, i have never experienced better service in my life starting from the reception to room service. The reception manager, Mr Leonidas just seems to help you with anything and you will see their goodwill in everything they do. For example i hade in-room breakfast everyday that i ordered to be delivered at 09. The food is excellent if you like real italian food (Fasano is a family that emigrated to Brazil from Italy many years ago). The rooms are nice but quite standard but its the service and the total experienc you come here for.

  When we arrived the concierge took great pride in saying this one of the safest areas of town for foreign tourists to walk around in. The entrance is decorated in a fusion-style of british gentlemans smoking club and brasilian architecture. During the day (we checked it out in advance) it looks impressive but dark but at night it becomes a truly wonderful room, back-lit marble behind the bar and stunning lighting "through" the wine bottles - difficult to explain but it works. The price list in the restaurant always looks terrifying (they use the $ symbol, but if you divide the price by three it becomes much more reasonable. This hotel (and it's restaurant) are not cheap - they probably come in at similar prices to say the Four Seasons in New York but in quality, service and design. All I am left to deal with in this report are the rooms and other ammenities.

  This is NOT the usual awful tasteless food that travellers associate with buffets worldwide.

  The service is absolutely excellent and still charmingly Brasilian. Breakfast is very nice but don't ask for french toast they have tried so many times to make this for me but alas the chef has no clue. The spa is sweet with very relaxing shiatsu and the gym is pretty nice for a hotel gym. Good safe neighbourhood where you can wander and shop. Sadly the Bar is no longer the "it" bar of the moment but the hotel is a great place to stay.

  Everything was perfect from the reception (complimentary upgrade to a suite, FREE late check-out at 5pm! The entrance is really nice since it's a cosy bar and the actual reception desk is hidden at the back: you do feel like being in an exclusive place!

  The staff is outstanding, very helpful, yet non-intrusive. The facilities are excellent for a boutique hotel. Both are urban chic-type hotels with a focus on service and quality. The hotel elevators and lobby are a bit better laid out, in my opinion, than the Emiliano, though it isn't a big deal. Certainly larger than the rooms I stayed at in Emiliano. Beds are very comfortable in both hotels. Darkish hard wood floors, furniture and closet space are evident in the rooms and common spaces. Emiliano rooms are carpeted and more tannish/earth tone colored. Fasano's lobby is enclosed and feels like someone's den, with a fireplace, nice leather couches. I actually prefer the Fasano's lobby because it has a wamer feel to it, while the glass and steel of the Emiliano is a bit cooler in feel.

  I am not sure I would decribe it as hip and trendy but rather as very stylish and appealing to those travellers who want excellent service rather than attitude and that horrible new word "edginess". Even the room key card holder is a compendium of useful local information presented with a jotter pad, addresses of shops in the neighbourhood and a pencil. On my return to my room, he had left a selection of cigars, a cigar cutter and a large ashtray, beat that for service. Rooms on the higher floors have a very good view over the surprising greenery in this upmarket part of the City and are supremely comfortable and housekeeping is first class. Breakfast on the balcony is a great way to start the day and the best way to end it is listening to the really fabulous band and singer (close your eyes and think of Nat King Cole) in the bar which attracts a very smart audience and has the atmosphere of the Cafe Carlyle in New York. The main restaurant is stunning, a beautiful room with flawless service and delicious Italian food.

  The manager, Leo, always meets his guests. The staff are attentive yet never in your face. All hotel managers should have to spend the night here to experience how a great hotel should be run. The rooms are large and so are the bathrooms.
