  If you are visiting Rio and have the money and interest for luxury accommodations, the Fasano is the best game in town. Everything from the exterior to the interior, from the floor lobby to the rooftop pool/bar is intelligent and luxurious in the most contemporary of ways. The hotel staff is superb and simply a pleasure whether you're dealing with lobby, pool, gym or beach. Fasano Rio is a gorgeous hotel with fantastic staff.

  3 feet away from this woman's living room. 1-yr old) the room had many scuff marks on the walls and scratches on the wood floor.

  New hotel, clean, nice rooms (we had the cheapest non-ocean view) which were a good size. Lovely pool with amazing views and the pool side staff were more than helpful. Conceirge and door staff were very helpful.

  Had some problems with service - a couple of items in our room were broken and we had to hassle the staff to fix them.

• One of the key reasons being its location is almost perfect. And ALL the staff on the rooftop bar are great. 3) As good as the rooftop bar service is the breakfast service is not. 6) I hate it when good hotels think they can charge a stupid amount of money for anything in the mini bar or for wireless internet access (paying for which i found repellent in the extreme given what I paid for my room) or whatever. All of the staff I encountered were lovely.

  But v v v overpriced and the manager needs to get a grip on some of the detail.

  Bags are delivered to the room swiftly (so often an irritant at top-class hotels). Unless you are paying for a suite, the first impression of your room is almost certain to disappoint. Even the larger “deluxe oceanfront” rooms (of 40sqm) appear smaller by virtue of the decision to place the bed freestanding, in the middle of the room. Baths are absent even in these rooms, which is surprising given that other space is dedicated to a bidet and workdesk – other reasons why the rooms appear smaller than they actually are. But at least the quality of pretty much everything in the room is first rate and, once you get used to the layout, you start to forgive the first appearances. However, the staff are accommodating and try their hardest to seek out spare beds when it is busy. The seafood restauarant is outstanding and the service good (shame however about the benign muzak – yes, they really do play “The Girl from Ipanema” endlessly at all Ipanema hotels). Just as in the rooms themselves, the materials used in the public areas are of the highest quality. With suites in the Copacabana Palace frequently on offer at half the price of a bath-less room here, it’s a struggle to justify the extravagance.

  We had asked for a front (beach facing) room. The styling by Phillipe Starck sets the hotel apart; every element from the lobby through the public rooms, restaurant and rooms is, well, different! I have to say that the staff are amazing. The cleaning was immaculate and the service could not be bettered. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was wonderful.

• Wonderful hotel, friendly and polite staff, beautiful rooms, gorgeous roof with pool. The restaurant is one of a kind, best seafood restaurant in Rio for sure.

  A boutique hotel in every sense… I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, location and most of all, the people…. I had a city view room although the views of Ipanema beach would have been nice and are available from the hotel at an extra cost. Food was excellent, but the wine and cocktail menu are worth going to visit the hotel alone. Small and housed within a room on the second floor. Treatments were professional and excellent. More of a huge plunge pool with great views of Ipanema and surrounding areas.

• The floor lobbies are beautiful but the room is nothing special: clean design but excessively cold with no charm. I am told that the restaurant is excellent but did not have the chance to try it.
