Hotel Elite Grachen - Grächen

Good location, proximity to the Central Station and the car park didnt look like the photo.

Good location and we had planned to take the train to Gonergrat.

Hotel Elite offers amazing views of the mountains and convenient to Tasch station to catch a train to visit Zermat.

1)when we arrived they were late in delivering our rooms and we had to leave our luggage in the dining room.

They also tried to charge us for rooms we hadn't occupied, and telephoned us during our holiday to accuse us of having kept the room key, which of course we hadn't and tried to charge us an extra night for that too.

The rooms were comfortable, but the ensuite facilities were in an alcove separated from the main room by a curtain; potentially embarrassing if sharing the room with someone else ( we occupied two rooms as singles so there were no problems).

5)there were no telephones in the rooms, however there was a telephone booth.

There were no bedside alarm clocks provided and no in-room telephones for a wakeup call; luckily we had travelling alarm clocks!

Breakfast was quite good, we ate dinner out so cannot comment about evening meals.

Breakfast was included in our reservation and was quite substantial.

There are a few restaurants, a grocery store, a ski rental store and that's pretty much it.

Budget in Switzerland means expect about 180 CHF a night for 2 people including breakfast, 150 CHF without breakfast).

The breakfast too was a little overpriced for what it was (15 CHF per person), but then what isn't in Switzerland.

Price was good, the front desk folks were very helpful from start to finish and pillows were a bit soft.

Otherwise you do not need to bother to ask for the shuttle bus service as it is (obviously) reserved for advanced skiers with skis rented from hotel.

This is a nice, family run hotel with friendly and helping staff.

The hotel has a shuttle to Zermatt for 5 CHF a person each way, but we found the train easier and cheaper since we had a Swiss train pass.

4)scamming stories: they tried to make us use their shuttle and rent their skies, even though it was more expensive.

Should you be so sloppy and miss your check-out because you were skiing they let you get to your under wear and change at the hotel lobby.

Additionally clean comfortable room and nice half Japanese receptionist.
