Great Hotel with the usual Du Vin refinements and attention to detail. Good position 5 minutes walking distance from the town centre. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Surprised by the £10 per night for parking.

The location and staff were both second to none.

        The bed was too hard.

Nice decor in public rooms as well as bedroom. Lovely toiletries. Good beds, linen and towels. DVD player standard.

Hotel was too hot in general. There was aircon in the rooms but we didn't want it on overnight - and it wasn't particularly hot weather. The bathroom had underfloor heating and it wasn't possible to turn it off, or we didn't find a way. We had to ask for a sheet (not a problem) because we were too hot in bed. Duvet rather noisy - we kept waking each other turning over.

the room and manger on the desk was super, and very helpfull

staff forget to give you menu, in bistro on first night. Lots of staff but not doing what you pay them for. Another problem was bread came to our table then had to ask for butter as there was none, then the waiter came back and told us the butter had just come out of the fridge ! did we want to know that charge for breakfast on Sunday toast came but again no butter had to ask..

        Lovely staff. xx

A little disappointed with the breakfast; not up to the standard of the only other hotel du vin that we have stayed in, Bristol. Coffee was extremely strong, almost undrinkable, the orange juice was not fresh squeezed and the fruit salad was prepared without care. Big, ugly lumps of fruit, membrane still adhering to pieces of orange, not appetising. No one asked if we wanted more toast so generally a not great.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Du Vin. It was very comfortable, stylish, cosy, the staff were just great, nothing was too much for them. We were treated with care, politeness yet very friendly. The food and drinks were great. Love the cosy library room . Fantastically comfortable bed.We are definetely going back.

Perhaps slightly on the expensive side.

        Nice room and good location.

Very expensive, too many additional costs considering the basic price! Breakfast was not good value for money, though nice.

the welcoming. the respect for peace and quiet if wanted. just far enough out of the city centre.

The room was very tastefully decorated in a modern shaker style and spotlessly clean. The best thing about the superior room is the roll top stand alone bath in the bedroom - what luxury. All staff were extremely courteous and friendly and eager to ensure all our needs were met and our stay was completely satisfactory. The location of the hotel was within a short walking distance of the centre of York. The hotel is known for its extensive stock of superior wines and also has a vast range of beers and spirits from around the world.

The only downside to our stay was the noise in the bedroom. Every time someone in an adjacent room flushed the toilet or turned on the taps/shower there was a very loud screeching noise in our room. This woke us during the night and very early in the morning on several occassions. Also as the room was located at the back of the hotel we were woken by the noise of the bottle bins being emptied at 7am. These were mentioned upon check-out and a small discount was given as a gesture of goodwill.
