Hotel Des Tours

Excellent location and the hotel receptionist did not handle the situation well.

The best thing about the hotel is its location - right next to a road full of lovely restaurants, and in the heart of the old town.

Fantastic location in the old town close to lots of shops & restaurants and the hotel is clean.

Great location, taxi from the eurostar station was six euros, but if your getting a taxi from the hotel to the station, best to grab one off the street, if you book it through the hotel, the cost is double.

And for info, a taxi to brussels costs 300 euros!

The hotel room, you got what you paid for in a 3* hotel, it had all you amenities you needed, a double bed, bath/shower, air con, tea making, hairdryer and tv with a mini bar as well.

The location may be good being in the old town but the room was basic, cheaply decorated, the bathroom had a lino floor, stained sink, loose toilet fittings and a door that did not close properly.

Our room was absolutely fine, but admittedly there were three of us in our group and so we had a suite (#311) between us and therefore I can't speak for the smaller rooms.

Descending from the upper (bed and bathroom) level to the lower floor down the little wooden hill required full mobility and deftness of foot.

Room - good, with firm bed on mezzanine; in good repair/decoration will all that one could want.

There is a small bar which was at our disposal and you can have breakfast for a fee, located on a terrace at the back.

We were on the 3rd floor and had no traffic noise problems as indicated by us sleeping through breakfast times after 2 late nights in the local Australian bar!

It's very well situated next to the Rue de Gand which has tons of good restaurants - between the 1st of June and end of Aug, on Friday & Sat nights, the street is pedestrianised so you can eat en masse outside.

Dining areas: pleasant, clean room wih convenient underground car park and fabulous restaurants in the next street.

Lots of lovely restaurants - we went to Philip for lovely champagne and fantastic food.

Service in reception and the bar was indifferent and barely got a smile from the staff.

The staff were really friendly, helpful receptionist things were looking up and the rooms were comfortable.

Bathroom was large, self service breakfast was good and staff were so helpful given our limited French.

Nice location in the center, very good value and the reception staff were very helpful and courteous.

Very good central location and underground car parking was an excellent bonus.

CAN'T COMMENT: Car parking; internet connectivity; ancillary costs; bar prices (except to say that one (generous) glass of whisky, four cups of tea and a bottle of water ran out at about 25 euros).

We drove from Calais and found the hotel quite easily and the private car park was a bonus, you do have to pay 11 euros a night but it is secure and there are lifts up to the main part of the hotel.

The room was clean and breakfast was better than anticipated.

Moreover the bathroom was clean, self service breakfast was good.

The bathroom was clean and modern, but very small!

Althought the rooms were fairly small and basi, they were clean, comfortable and quiet.
