Hotel Derek Houston - 休斯敦

For the location (Houston Galleria) , I found the room to be inexpensive and centrally located.

Restaurants and drugstore located across the street and location is convenient to business and the Galleria shopping center.

The hotel is in a a nice location in terms of proximity to nicer parts of Houston, however, with it being so close to the Galleria and Loop 610 it is difficult to enter and leave by private car.

The one thing I paid for was a cab to/from Intercontinental Airport which was about $65 + tip.

Yes, it is two blocks from the Galleria, but it’s not like you are going to cross I-45 on foot.

We asked to move and eventually they gave us two rooms except that one only had a king size bed and we had asked for two double beds in each room (one per person as we have various issues such as a pregnancy making it hard to share beds).

The rooms are small, beds are hard and the bed linens are not that good.

Missing towels and minibar items, uncumfortable bed, coffin-like bathroom, valets who take tips but don't park your car where they say they will, tacky restaurant/menu; these are things you just don't find in a place with real class.

There was a wall of floor to ceiling glass along the entire suite, two full baths, a bar, L'Occitaine bath products, great water pressure in the showers, and very good ambient and task lighting options.

Room was clean and well designed, comfortable beds, bathroom had a fantastic shower and really couldn't figure out what everyone was complaining about.

Ate lunch in the bar area of the hotel restaurant.

We've never eaten in the restaurant but the bar is really nice.

The restaurant is French inspired with a local influence to it and I thought the food was very well-balanced and not overly priced (as many hotel restaurants typically are).

Our package included $25 per person for breakfast so we ate well each morning in their restaurant.

The location is great, friendly atmosphere - cheers type bar / restaurant and the staff is very attentive.

We found the staff to be friendly, especially the valet and room service staff, and the room was very comfortable.

The Derek staff was very courteous and the service was prompt.

Did not use the pool or exercise room or spa.

The fitness center was nice and clean, although small.

I've never seen a hotel use Aveda spa soaps.

Both the free wi-fi and the wired internet worked with our laptops without any delay, configuring, or registering hassles.

Wireless internet is free, so is the newspaper and coffee if you go down stairs.

Comfortable, clean and stylish room,(no heavy wood) in-room safe (great for laptops) in-room internet and wireless access is available in the lobby.

The room was clean and spacious, the pillows were comfortable.

Decor of the hotel is very beautiful, the staff is so friendly and rooms are clean and comfortable.

I found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly; the room was spacious and clean; and the public areas pleasant and welcoming.
